I called in the Auto elec. and we discovered that my multimeter was faulty!
Ahh yes, test equipment failure. Seen it many times before. Back in the day at the nuclear plant, we had a calibration department and on critical equipment repairs or preventitive maintenance activities, the test equipment had to be calibrated before and calibration checked post activity to guarantee that the work that was done was done to specification.
You're having a problem on a milliamp system on 45 year old equipment. No surprise. Just 1 little corrosion problem and shit happens. Bear in mind that back when this system was put together, there were no weathertight connections and we ride in all kinds of weather. 22 gauge wires with tiny connection pins, moisture and air - just asking for trouble.
The scope will really help determine what's going on. Good move to get help that way. Looking forward to hearing your resolve.
