Wooowwuuu!!!! I thought I'd lost my eye or hearing! I forgot to remove these plastic plugs from when I was painting, and cranked the engine by hand. Boy, the one that flew with a sound of ten uncorked champagne bottles took me by surprise!!! Damn!!!
Moved the engine to the other, easier accessible dolly. Installed the oil pan elbow. The oil pan is sealed. Missing are: right engine cover (in plating), decision about the clutch cover (I think I will go for the original 79 small window one, have to have it chrome plated), and the one valve shim (have the correct size installed but it came with a defect, negligible I suppose but better have it perfect). So... pretty much all is in place. Not enough to truly say it's complete, but enough to add about 3 liters of oil
So I did! Just enough to show a bit of it at the bottom of the clutch compartment. The sump is picking it up, when I turn the crank by hand! Yes!!! I see fresh oil all the way lubricating the camshaft journals! All is good

Next a few drops of the coolant to lubricate the water pump. Just a few, because the radiator is not attached and it would leak if added more. I will have to fabricate the radiator attachment frame, then all will be filled. That will be the time to attach a battery and crank the engine with some real power!

Just ordered iridium plugs. Almost done with a few small pieces that prevent me from closing the engine solid. And it's sitting firm on the dolly, now is the time to fabricate steel mounting brackets and replace the flimsy wooden blocks.
Will bring the clutch cover to the plating shop. Why not doing it once and proper? That's a big surface and will stand out.
There is about 3 liter of oil already inside. No leaks. Feeling good.
The engine part is almost done. Next will be making a plate to attach all the electronics and controls. The first fire up is looking good, and on the horizon!!!!
Very happy with the progress

Do you intend to start the engine whilst it is in your apartment, Stan?

No, no way. I'd be in trouble. I will roll it out and run it in the parkade.

My last update here.
I did fill the engine with coolant, despite the radiator still not attached. It can be done just for testing, to make sure all parts are lubricated. Mainly the impeller mechanical seal. Which I didn't replace, but used the old one turned around and the whole assembly with a few tricks.
The engine turns freely and smooth! The oil level in the clutch spy window goes down, then comes up when stopped. Meaning the oil pump and all the oil supply passages are working fine, and I am a very happy man!
Fine detail cosmetics are secondary to me right now. I have all the necessary tools in sight, and all polishing gadgets are about $200. Not a viable option now since the borders are closed, and we in Canada can't get the good stuff locally or at very infalted prices. I must wait.
AT the end, I installed shallow sump, small window clutch cover.
I hope you will enjoy the video. It's the first run beyond the slow motion cranking the beast by hand.
Wish everyone prosperity, and stay safe in these times.
Cheers,
Stan
