The engine and frame look great, Stan. You can be justifiably proud. Are the cylinder head nuts torqued to specification now?

Hi Gents,

Try using acetone to soften carb rubbers. It’s safer than other chemicals and probably cheaper. They only need to be in the acetone for about two hours but check progress after an hour. The carb rubbers on my GT750 were solid when I refurbished the bike a few years ago and softened the rubbers using acetone. I had to take the carbs off the bike last year to carry out some maintenance and the carb rubbers were still soft.

Hi Stan,

The bike is looking great. Keep up the good work.

Stan, really like the finish you've achieved on the engine: nice to see shiny and satin black combination, looks very nice.
Is it PJ1 Satin Black ??

Cheers Tim

Thank you guys!

Yes, the cylinder head nuts and bolts are torqued all the way - 29 ft-lbs and 87 in-lbs respectively. So are the camshaft caps.
They will be re-tightened after the first warm up and cool down, then after the recommended miles. I've heard a 100, then someone mentioned 500. I don't mind doing it at both distances.

Yes, it's PJ1 Satin Black and I am very pleased with the chosen theme. It does actually look much better in person, without the flash light which bounces off every little greasy fingerprint. In reality, it looks really nice uniform satin black, very accurately labeled. Installing things I banged here and there and I must say it held up very well! The few small scratches will be easily corrected. And it will become even sturdier after operating the engine and curing.

I've used acetone to visually refresh rubber and plastics (like the speedometer casing). Very good results. Maybe I'd try acetone and wintergreen? I am going to experiment a bit before I go full stop with the manifolds. They are in good condition other than a bit stiff, I wouldn't want to melt them down, haha

Yes, toluene is familiar to me. It was used for cleaning. I wonder it it would be good for carburetors?..

I am putting back the electrical system, which was quite a mess when it came with the bike. All lights and signals missing, some cut wires and lots of loose stuff. I'm trying to find the correct placement for everything (don't mind the few brackets with paint coming off - that will be taken care of once I have all components sorted out and hooked up; easy to beautify the subcomponents even one by one).

I need information about which way to feed the main bundle and the branching bundles (in the photo). If I am correct it has to go underneath the battery tray and the connections are made between the battery and the rear inner fender.

There is a hook/loop underneath the center frame cross bar. The harness is supported going through this, right?

If anyone could post a few pictures showing the way the wires go, it would be most helpful and appreciated!

I can't find a place where to attach this component... Where does it go?

Also, this I can trace following wiring, but same as above, I can't find anywhere where it would attach.

I might be missing a bracket in this compartment... If you can spot and make a suggestion, please do so! I can post more bigger photos taken from different angles
