Hi all, thanks for accepting.

My company performs classic restorations, predominantly Italian but we dabble occasionally into Japan.  We have a client with a penchant for 80's Kawasaki's & his latest is a US delivered 79 KZ, so I thought the smartest thing we could do for him was to join the KZ font of knowledge.

Cheers 4 now

Hello Moz,
Welcome to KZ1300.COM.
I'll be interested in reading about your tribulations as you work your way through that six.

Don't miss the FAQ tab on the Main menu. It links to the FAQ from David's original website.

Many thanks Bill, I've been scanning the FAQ today and also very pleasantly surprised to find the PDF workshop manual files, these saved us hours of trial & error already!!

The  blue A1 looks amazing.
What mileage has it done.
What are you expecting wrong with it?

Has the owner got connections in the States ... I want to go over and buy a DFI.
I have an A1 with 8850 miles in ocean green ... just recommisioning it, not started
for many year .. we have her turning over though.

Whats the box in fron of the radiator on the pictured bike.

Hi Dave, the owner worked in the US for a decade or more, but if I remember correctly he acquired the KZ here in Oz.  He's Kawaka enthusiast, we've already done a GPZ Turbo and there's a Oz delivered ELR 1000 waiting for love, so he may well have a good circle of green friends stateside.  I'll check with him & if it's ok so supply his email.

As for the box, it's not a box, it's aluminium someone has fashioned to help funnel air into the rad (see pic),   not sure they'll stay, it looks a bit ordinary but I have no idea if these had any overheating issues, I wouldn't have thought so.  He's not keeping the touring fairing, we're fabricating brackets for a large single headlight & period correct flashers, and then new topbox bracket, but at the moment we just sorting the issues of getting it running.  She's only done 22k miles but there's a price for low-use old bikes.  Carby's were/are a nightmare, fuel tank was worst we're ever seen, master cylinders like mud and there's a bit of doggy wiring, concrete tyres, missing &/or broken engine mount bolts, but other than that it's perfect :)

Hey, I don't suppose you or anyone you know have pics of what the original top box mount looked like?  I've found several pics but only with the box mounted.
Cheers

There is at least one member of this forum who owns a B2 Touring, and may help with the top box mounting information- but I can’t recall the names. Hopefully, they’ll see your post.
Is that a Bimota with a Yamaha engine in the background of your photo?
