Starter Clutch Removal
This is for the dual alternators version 1982.
If you have the single alternator on the right side of the motor, 1979, 1980, and part of 1981, you need to refer to page 79 of the service manual. Page 273 shows the puller ( item #20) which is nothing more than a 3 legged puller that screws into the starter clutch and pushes on the end of the crankshaft. Note that the bolt on the end of the crankshaft is a left hand thread as noted in the Service Manual.

I have seen in the service manual that special tools are required.
My crankshaft is a single rotor crankshaft.
After some googling I have discovered the parts I need, I have ordered them to a known workshop to make them for me. Magneto extractor screw, M16/150.
I have obtained several images of the starter clutch puller tool.
Likewise, how it would be its operation coupling.
The wait continues.

You could just use the 3 legged puller in the bottom picture. Just ensure that the the end of the jacking bolt is larger than the 14mm thread on the end of the crankshaft so you don't bugger up the threads in the end of the crankshaft.

To simplify the tools, I've ordered the magneto extractor screw to be the same one used with the starter clutch extractor.
To protect the thread, I'll use a rod with a smaller diameter than this one and one that butts against the crankshaft wall.

Just took my one off today made my own tool with an old tow bar nut and bolt l. Welded the nut to a piece of metal plate but first made a card board cut out 'l. Drilled the holes first. Put a metal washer on the of the crank so the bolt will push on that so not to damage the end of the crank .Quick tap on the head of the bolt and came off easy hopes that helps

Can you post a picture of the starter clutch end shaft?
There is a hole that I don't know if it is a safety pin housing.
