Customized ZN1300, Triumph Rocket III, Suzuki GS1100E,(slightly modified).

The Suzuki isn't very comfy, but, it does turn about 120mph in the 1/8th mile, and I can still ride it to work.

Is the steering on your MT01 very quick? I think that bike would be Da Kine if it had about a 28 degree rake.

Bill

I had to Google what 'Da kine' means lol.
It handles very well considering it weighs 240kg. & the performance is about the same as the Z1300, albeit they're like chalk & cheese in their delivery of course. When you get around to riding yours I guarantee you'll like the engine ;)
And I bet it sounds good on those drag pipes
I do wish that Yamaha had carried over the belt drive from the Warrior to the MT-01 though.

I've had the RoadLiner for three days now. Long enough to give it a once over, change to oil and the like. The previous owner (PO) put a bit less than 11,000 mikes on it in seven years. I had to call him up and ask about the tires. He put a new tire on the front last year. The rear tire is the original!

I took it out onto our training range and put it through some low speed maneuvers this afternoon. I'm way impressed, it handles better'n my Valkyrie!

This one at the top of Pilot Butte.

Is the oil tank down on the left front side of the engine as on my MT-01?
I'm assuming you read the owner's handbook before you changed the oil ...I didn't  When refilling you're supposed to put a couple of litres in, then run the engine for a bit to pull it through from the oil tank, then put the rest in. I put the full 4-odd litres in & ended up with oil overflowing all over the floor :pinch: A mate of mine with an MT-01 did the same  You only do it once ;)

Hi Phil,

The oil tank is just rearward of the exhaust pipe for the rear cylinder on the right side. Yes I reviewed the owner's manual and found that there are THREE oil drains. The manual says the bike's design incorporates a dry sump for the engine however there is some sort of oil reservoir in front of and behind the crankshaft that also must be drained. I really need a service manual to understand how it all works together. The owner's manual refers to the transmission as the transfer case which is lubricated with gear oil. The procedure for filling is as you described, first add a bit short of three quarts to the tank, run the motor for a moment till the tank is nearly empty and then fill it till the dipstick says it's satisfied. The two oil drains on the case have such tight clearances that I had to thin down a box wrench to get a hold of the bolt head no socket would fit either.

Any way, I like the bike a lot. Sometime this spring or summer I'm going to decide which bike I keep and which goes. I never thought the Valkyrie could be challenged, I'll soon know.
