As you all know the 1300 creates a lot of heat. I was going through my latest Speedway Motors catalog and came across a couple items made by DEI that could be helpful for those in high heat areas. The first is an adhesive backed heat shield that measures 21 in X 24 in that could be attached to the bottom of the tank. The product name is Floor and Tunnel Shield II. The other product is a Heat Sheath that you could run the fuel line through. Comes in a 1/2in X 36in model. The adhesive backed shield is about $30 and the sheath is $10. Check it out at www.speedwaymotors.com/Shop/Design-Engineering/11.html . Keep cool, Jake

I have used DynaMatt to redo the insulation under the tank on some of my BMWs. You think the Kawasaki six get hot try a K100RT BMW, all the heat plus a fairing that traps it. They get so bad that I have seen the fuel boiling. I do know what you mean by the Zs getting hot I rode mine through many Australian summers and at times had for the want of a better description sunburned thighs from the hot tank.
