That shim in the first picture is really galled. I have never seen one like it. Is the camshaft lobe OK?  I would also check the oiling supply to the camshaft and spill ports that lubricate the camshaft lobes and cam followers.
Before placing the cylinder head cover and with the crankcase full of oil, I plan to crank the engine with the starter, without the spark plugs, and see if oil reaches the camshaft area.

I have the engine almost ready, cranckase, clutch and gear covers.


I have cleaned and checked the thermostat, oil pressure sensor and neutral sensor.



 


I have hung an old ternal from a main beam and now have the engine ready to lift and place on the chassis.

Maybe too late for this comment.. but maybe not. 

Have you replaced all the O-Rings  and gaskets in the various external plugs/passage ways/ etc? 

My rebuilder did not, and I've been chasing small annoying oil seepage leaks with an engine in the frame.

My guess is you have!

I already have the motor anchored to the frame.



Now a new challenge begins.
Make the radiator work.


Any suggestions for a miracle liquid to remove dirt or do I take it directly to a radiator repair shop?

That has to be the worst I've ever seen.  Best to take it to a rad shop. I think even a rad shop will want to replace the rad core.
usually the rads are blocked with calcium or lime like deposits. Yours has iron rust blockage. Even if it was flushed out, so of the remaining rust deposits might break off and possibly ruin the water pump seal.
