Hi All,
Recently picked up a Canadian 79 KZ1300, from the original owner no less. Has not run since 1990 and was stored dry since.
The bike is complete, and will do a full restoration.
Did need to get new keys made as they were long gone. Removed the ignition switch to get the key number.
The engine was frozen when purchased, but quickly got it turning over by pouring a 50/50 mix of acetone/ATF into cylinders, let it sit overnight,
and following day working the rear wheel back and forth on the center stand and in 5th gear. Engine was turning over within 20 minutes.
Already rebuilt the front master and both front calipers.
This will be my winter project, and really looking forward to asking many questions.
Already picked up a hard copy service manual.
Damn, this bike is heavy.

Welcome to the site from the guy in Port Perry. Looking forward to hearing about the resto. The way life is going for me, I suspect you'll be finished long before me.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. We're here to help, but before you ask, a lot of answers can be found using the "search" tab and alter the time window to "any date"
One more post from you and approved by either KZQ or myself, and you'll be free to post and see immediately on the site. ( Just our way of cutting out the Bots)
Enjoy,
KB

Amazing to find a one-owner bike. Do you know the reason for it being unused all these years? How many km does it have on the clock?
Looking forward to seeing some photos, and following your restoration . Best wishes.

Yes, the owner lived in BC for many years, then moved to Australia in in late 80's and he's been there since.
He figured he'd never come back, so he instructed his brother to sell the bike.
I bought it just outside of Windsor, Ontario where his brother lives.
The bike has just under 38000 kms.
I did add a few pics in my original post, but they didn't show up, not sure what happened.
