Wanted: Airbox Gasket
6 years 1 month ago
Hey everyone, I'm searching for the gasket that seals the top and bottom parts of the airbox. #19 in the diagram below
Let me know if you have one you'd be willing to sell, or know anyone f a source for new ones. Thanks!

Very hard to find one in decent condition. I have used foam rubber band which has adhesive on one side, cut to measure. Remember to clean fixing surface well.

Yeah I was thinking of cutting my own from rubber sheet. Figured I'd ask before I went too wild.

years ago I bought a brand new one of these and the rubber started coming away from the metal immediately. It think its a poor design where they didn't fully enclose the metal in rubber.

Yes, the rubber is only on one side. Altogether it's a flimsy piece, made from what seems like a thicker sheet metal. Not a good design and solution. It doesn't sit deep enough to stay securely. You could fabricate it then glue rubber to it to replicate the original. Other than that, maybe adhesive window insulator? Not sure yet what I will do when getting to this. I have it original on my bike.

I remember the first time I pulled the airbox on my 79 - that rubber/steel gasket thing fell apart as I removed it. Poor design.
