Change handlebar grips was created by coleface
My 1980 has the original foam grips and they need to be replaced. How do I do this?

If over the years the grips have stuck to the handlebars, insert a thin screwdriver between the two parts to make them expand, spray with WD-40 and try to turn the parts outwards.
If it is so stuck that it breaks when it expands, use a cutter and a little solvent to remove the remains of the foam.

They wouldn't have had foam grips originally (assuming you mean foam, as opposed to the more generic 'rubber').  In any case, slide a thin Phillips head screwdriver in-between the grip and bar (or grip and throttle tube) and simply rotate the screwdriver - it'll 'walk' around the bar loosening the grip.
