90 year old propane tank for a reservoir?? Not in a million years. I wouldn't trust a 10 year old tank. It's one thing if it explodes when filled with water pressure. No harm no foul. It's a bomb waiting to go off when pressurized with a gas. Ditch the Bitch and spent $50 bucks and get a new one. You don't need a 100 LB tank for a reservoir unless you're taking lug nuts off an 18 wheeler with a 1" impact. Life's too short to be tempting fate.
I make sure the inner remains dry by draining about every 30 days. The compressor is yards away, meaning very little water vapor condenses into the tank. I also have a water separator at each end. I've never had to drain the separator at the accumulator.
"A standard propane tank has a Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) typically rated around
240–375 psi."
Normal compressor shut off pressure is 100 psig, well below the ratings of the cylinder.
Still though, you have a valid point, 90 years is a looong time.
Thanks for the heads up -
