2026-04-23 Can't Seat the Bead
Of all the phooking things.
I cannot get this speed to seat on the rim.
I've used lube, WD-40 put a strap around it pressurized it to 110 psi in the second bead will not settle in.
Not sure what I'm gonna do.

I've had good luck with heat. Release the air. Crush the bead where it is set. Put that tire in the HOT California sun, both sides, and try again.

2026-04-23 Front Tire Seated!
After sitting over night and all day today in the sunshine... The strap and tire decided to play nice..
Cranked the compressor to full tilt, ~130 psig.
Filled the accumulator tank to 130 psig.
Isolated the accumulator tank, drained the compressor to hit low level turn on, pressurize to ~130 psig.
Lubed the area again with Ru-Glyde to help trap air inside tire.
Hit it with a blast from the past, Memorex style.
Oingo-Boingo she's a done deal!
While apart, yes, I did polish the axle, used a Dremel with soft metal attachment to clean up surface rust and road gunk.
And...yes, I did wax them.
Don't worry about the axle nut missing. It's not all THAT important.
Ok, it's drying after being painted.
After 47 years it was pretty grody.
I need to find a quality supplier of metric SS bolts or chrome.
Beltron maybe?
Here's my accumulator tank.
It's a young pup as you will soon see.
It's 90 years old!

90 year old propane tank for a reservoir?? Not in a million years. I wouldn't trust a 10 year old tank. It's one thing if it explodes when filled with water pressure. No harm no foul. It's a bomb waiting to go off when pressurized with a gas. Ditch the Bitch and spent $50 bucks and get a new one. You don't need a 100 LB tank for a reservoir unless you're taking lug nuts off an 18 wheeler with a 1" impact. Life's too short to be tempting fate.
