Fun Ride to Solvang, CA, 223 miles, cute waitress!
23 hours 28 minutes ago - 23 hours 9 minutes ago
2025-07-09 Chomps Eatery - Summer - Cute Gurl! Pics
At last moment the boys decided to have an airhead ride. The 1300 was already in the trailer so I was odd man out.I have found that I like riding this bike without the windshield.
The current shield is just a slab of plexiglass with no shape, no curve.
The turbulence is phenomenal, it will rattle your eyeballs.
Much smoother without it.
Starting mileage is 83,876.1
Meet up point 5-Cities gas in Pismo Beach.
Old bikes, old riders. 2 Airhead BMW's, 1 Airhead Harley with a ton of miles.
Then there is me, with a liquid cooled 6 cylinder trip-dueced carbureated monster!
Mandatory PS (pee stop!)
Dave almost had an oopsie when kickstand sank into soft dirt...
Found a new feature which allows removing objects in photos.. Like power poles.!
Arrival at Chomps, Solvang, CA
The old gurl looks kinda funny without a screen.
Gotta find someone to make one. My go-to guy, Gary Patel of Rifle fairings, is no longer with us.
This is the airhead I worked on for Barrie. Still running GREAT, especially after Don S applied loctite to carb diaphram plates!
On the hunt for an Ice Cream Sundae!

We are all walking a bit strange these days. Sigh.
And Barrie shared his sciatica with me, cause he be my bud.
Cool interior - 1950's theme.
Not really a car theme based place.. But that's OK!
Bananna carmel chocolate Sundae or???
Kids always be like on their phones..
Don gets ready for nappie time..
All us Boyz have gotten BIG. Except for DJ, his metabolism is still off the charts. Eats like a horse, skinny as F$#k.
Introducing Summer. Wonderful personality, sharp, witty, and pretty!
We wondered if her sister was named Autumn.
Barry said he had a banana for breakfast so he did not have the banana ice cream sundae.
Instead, it was only and I mean only chocolate, caramel, vanilla ice cream.
Just can't figure out why we be big Boyz!?

Fun group, good riders, no stupid shit!
She even did a selfie with us!
Don S says she looked just like his granddaughter.
Summer said she's beautiful!
I said she's as beautiful as you!!
From then on, I got the best service!
Remember to compliment the ladies my friends!
Statue out front.
71.2 miles since last fuel. This motorcycle gives me fuel range anxiety.
5.6 gallons at maybe 30 mpg = ~ 169 per tank, ASSuming all gas will flow from reserve into carbs.
There is not a lot of height differential between the tank and the carburetor inlet, very little head pressure.
71.2 miles, 2.1 gallons.
Is 33.6 mpg. We were running a very slow pace, which was really nice.
I saw more of this ride than on a lot of rides!
Doing the math, (5.5 max - 2.1 consumed) leaves 3.5 gallons left.
Given that the slow pace increased MPG avg, took 3.5 gallons
remaining multiplied by 30 mpg for a range of 105 mpg left.
With 71.2 on the clock, 105 + 71.2 = 176 per tank.
My onboard sticker is 169 per tank.. Think I'll keep that as baseline!
Final pee break and say Good Ride Boyz!
78.2 miles and 2.07 gallons.
Say whaaat? 37.7 mpg??
Scotch from KZ1300.com would be proud of me!
(must have been downhill with tail wind!)
Ending mileage. 223 on the day!

A fun ride! I liked the slower pace of not having to 'press' my 46 year old bike beyond
her comfie zone. I liked being able to actually look some of the houses hidden behind
greenery. I liked hearing the bulls bellow at each other to attract the only cow.
Kinda like me back in the day at closing time...
I liked that the KZ ran F'n GREAT. Even in 98F temps, and running hard, she didn't overheat.
Temp gauge was at max of 'normal' zone, but not into the 'red'.
I asked my bud Don S, who was behind, me, if he saw any signs of blue smoke or the smell
of oil. He said no!l The previous tank was chock full of Yamaha Ring Free, followed by an oil
change, as RF tends to pollute the oil.
Don did say he saw a bit of black smoke when I romped on her.. Which is curious, given the lean
condition of the plugs when running BP8ES, a colder plug than OEM specs which is BP6Es.
Gonna put the 6's back in and see what happens.
In the mean time, I have another carb rack to build, as carb 1 on this rac... someone hacked the
idle jet circuit, installed who knows what from who knows whatever bike. But the jet size and seat
are completely different, and won't adjust idle mixture at all. In other words, this carb is toast.
But it's ok, I just bought 3 more carbs, in good shape, which gives me now 4 carb rack. Someday,
I'll get my mony back and have 3 really good racks built from the best of best parts for the 3 KZ's.
Ride on my KZ brothers and sisters...
