Leaky Pilot Jet O-Rings?
8 months 3 weeks ago - 8 months 3 weeks ago

While rebuilding the carburetors, I noticed some small bubbles escaping from the pilot jet O-ring when using the scotch tool. That was with lacquer thinner.
Put some Snoop on the top and pressurized. Lots of bubbles!
I realize pressurizing is the opposite of vacuum and I am pressurizing at a higher pressure using my air compressor at 15 psi versus pulling a vacuum when the engine is running.Curious to see what the boys at K Z 1300.com say...

IMO the O-ring should form a seal

Its impossable for an oring that small to withstand 15psi and the procedure, really proves nothing.

Is there any other way to test the seal?
Maybe have the bike running and inject ether into the area to see if RPM's increase?

What i did was to set the pilot jets 3 turns out then covered the head with grease to form a seal{ temporarily } and see if it gets suck in when running

8 months 3 weeks ago - 8 months 3 weeks agoGood idea, Thanks for posting! Once I get this thing working and adjusted properly, I'll probably put a dab of silicone to keep them from moving around. That 2 1/2 to 3 turns out they're kind of loose. Thanks again. What i did was to set the pilot jets 3 turns out then covered the head with grease to form a seal{ temporarily } and see if it gets suck in when running
