I just picked up an 80 kz1300 and 86 vulcan 750. After cleaning off 10 years of dirt and debris from the projects I'm itching to get started. I will as soon as I get manuals for each ordered. On a good note, both bikes show clear oil in the engine and a pretty green fluid in the radiator. I've posted pics on FB but would welcome any tips from those that have already done this type of project.

At this point, it's about hitting the basics- clean carbs, valve, and compression check. Once you dive into it a bit more, you'll know where to focus.

Cam chain tensioners are a frequently-cited weak point. I say keep an eye on them. Some upgrade to manual tensioners, others have run tens of thousands of miles on the stock tensioners with no problems. Use your judgement, and check the FAQ for alternative fixes.

Okay, carbs are pulled...a little dusty but the diaphragms and floats seem okay. The gas tank was pulled before storage so no varnish in the bowls. Pulled plugs, visual inside looks fairly clean. No power after battery swap will work on harness tomorrow I guess. Lol, forgot its a touring model so I've pulled the fairings, and radiator for better access.

Check the key switch under the side cover, that will give no power, also there are manual downloads here for it so you can download them and get started on the 13
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF
