2024-01-20 Oil SeepageWhat's behind this cover? Anything going to spring out?
Partzilla doesn't show a gasket for it...
Can these tensioners be removed for new gasket or is there danger of slipping a tooth?
Hopefully not a base gasket leak.

Item #33  -  45mm o ring behind the timing shaft cover (which is the access for removing the timing shaft sprocket). Just crankcase pressure .if you have to remove the tensioners do so very carefully and don't move the crankshaft until the tensioners are back in and confirm the camshaft timing before turning over the engine.

"Engine Covers" department.   O-Ring ordered. eBay.

Tensioners. I have to pull valve cover due to leaky end cap. Lesson learned. Buy OEM when you can. These were re-pops. Will disconnect battery and not rotate crankshaft.

Anything to check on the other tensioner?

Thank you, once again

Don

The only thing that could happen if the other chain jumps a tooth the ignition timing will be off but that chain is so short  I doubt it will jump. the  tensioner on that chain is more about limiting the possible + - ignition changes.

This solved my weeping issues MANY years ago. This "Pipe Fitters" tape is much thicker than standard "Teflon" tape.

Well, that's a great idea! Thanks. I hate to pull the valve cover again.. but I hate leaks even more.

I'm not sure if Ray replaced o-rings when reassembling but I doubt it, given the current issues.
