Hey, i think i saw those Suzukis on craigslist last week. I had a new 1972 GT750 Suzuki water buffalo back in the day. Traded it even for a 1974 TM 250 motocross bike 2 years later. Dumbest move i ever made. I rode one of the RE bikes from the local dealer one day but was just not impressed. Apparently not many other people were either as the model didn't last long.

Very Nice! I just pulled my Kz1300 back to life after sitting in my garage since 1994. This forum helped me a lot when I was trying to get it to run.

Yeah, I've discovered they're rare for a reason. Neat as a conversation piece, but nobody except a naive dummy like me would buy an RE5 project.

Well im no computer wiz and gave up trying as Jared has managed to do and put in a descent size pic
however on the topic of the humble Wankel engine, has anyone seen a VanVeen OCR1000
if you consider it was built in late 70s i actually think it was quite a nice bike, the problem Suzuki found with the RE5 was its complexity hence cost to build! it just did not equate, hence buyers savey as many are, where wary of the new technology and exorbitant prices, and weren't keen on something that didn't actually perform any better for that cost jump.(you did however get high maintenance in the constant tuning the early rotary's required).
this unfortunately has been the constant undoing with all rotary bikes,Hercules,Suzuki,Vanveen,Norton.
actually the inline engine is the most cost effective engine for any manufacturer to build hence it being the back bone of the general motoring industry.
but im a beast of indifference, so in that, i have to say its good they where built, pity they wherent cost effective
with regards the Norton's, i watched Steve Spray and Treveor Nation many times on the rotary's and they sounded amazing, i might even have given my left nut to have ringed the neck out of one.
so here,s to the men who cant sleep at night and sit up building things that arent always practical
