Does anyone know the trick to getting the trip reset knob out? Mine spins one way to bring miles back to zero. My other bikes just wind off the other way. This 1300 just spins. It does have a hole down the center, I am assuming their must be a trick to getting the knob off? Any suggestions would help.

Not really. Whichever way the knob spins to reset the trip, spin it the other way and it should unscrew. I can't remember if it's standard thread or reversed, but whichever way is opposite the direction required for a trip reset. (The threads are pretty fine, so it might take a while to spin it off.)

If it just spins, something is up. Either the threads are wallered out or somethings up inside the speedo.

Its a very very fine thread.
Its also a REVERESE Thread so you need to turn it Clockwise to loosen...........Anti-Clockwise to tighten.

If you need speedo repair, 'Foreign Speedo Repair' near San Diego did a GREAT job on my A1 and 88 Honda Accord.

Removing the trip reset seems to be a common problem - The reset does spin both ways unfortunately and removal assumes that it is not assembled too tightly in the first place. I struggled with mine as well and had to cut it off in the end as a previous owner had seen fit to glue it on the thread with araldite - a delicate operation is needed to avoid damaging the meter and housing. See www.kz1300.com/index.php/forum/electrica...7-trip-reset-removal for my struggles and final solution.
