Hi Folks,
I've got access to several different types of 3D printers and it just occurred to me that I could print replacement side covers in a number of different plastics including polypropylene and nylon. I have the ability to scan an existing cover and create a digital model, including the push in mounting studs.
What's your experience with pricing and availability of side covers, tail pieces, etc? These would be bare plastic which would likely need priming before being painted.
TIA
Bill

Man, you've got access to some pretty cool tooling. Thinking back when you were building the workshop and using Cad Cam for the trusses. Kudos. Can't wait to see some new 3d side covers.

Thanks Guys,
I'll scan the covers from my 81 1300. If we can make this work I'll be needing some good side covers from you folks to scan and replicate.
What are side covers going for presently?
Thanks
Bill

Does the process lend itself to such things as the coolant tank for the 1300?

Hi Jim,
The plastics I can use do not yield a translucent enough result. Also the print usually requires supports for perched or unsupported portions. Supports inside a hollow shape are difficult to remove cleanly.
Sorry
