Looking at Wiseco site, they only offer this which doesn't look at all like Kawboy's pic..

powersports.wiseco.com/catalog/product/v...12216/category/4461/

You did see the disclaimer at the bottom of the picture right??
"Notice:  Product Images may differ from the actual product.  Image may be a representation of this item."

Also under "Applications" tab these pistons are for the 1977-1980 KZ650 B/F

This is a picture of the actual KZ650 piston from Wiseco  part #4037M06400

Called Wiseco, spoke with 'Alan', he sounds like a long time employee and gear head..

Yes indeed the
  1. Wiseco part is 4037M06400
  2. The pic on the website is incorrect (new website, still applying lipstick, including correct pics and a 'cart' to purchase
  3. Wiseco price is 192.38 USD, they have 6 in stock, will take 6 - 12 weeks to mfr new IF orders come in
  4. eBay has many vendors at ~153 USD
  5. Alan confirmed that these have previously been sold to KZ1300 customers
  6. He also stated that forged pistons are much stronger than cast and, more importantly, that
  7. Ring material and quality is vastly improved over ~1980 technology *especially the oil rings*
Kawboy, you done good bud!

Thanks for the research, time, and posting this valuable info. I guess you can hang around a little longer now that you've 'proven' yourself

Hi, when I did my engine rebuild, I got first oversize pistons from zed parts in UK. After reviewing the piston I compared theme in similar matter like Kawboy did. The dome of the oversize piston was little lower than the standard size piston. The rings in comparison to Crusinimage rings ware different, the first and second ring from C-I ware the same. They loocked like top rings and the thickness was the same where rings from UK they ware all different, like you normally see in the engine. First silver second black and three part oil ring. At first after only honing the cylinder liners and putting Crusinimage rings oil consumption was there, not to bad but quiet there. Than proper rebuild with first oversize and zed-parts rings compression 10,5-11 bar warm and no oil consumption at all I imagine, also when hard riding. Thats my experience.
Regards

There's a thread in the forum which is interesting regarding Piston rings.  When I was ordering parts for my top-end rebuild a year ago, I ordered  a set of "standard" rings from "Crusinimage".
(The machine shop had confirmed "Standard" was within the specs for the Precision Honing they had performed)
The very moment I looked at these rings - I was disappointed. My observation was the same as others had pointed-out.  An inquiry to C.I.  - like everyone else has commented - was ignored !
I threw them out - literally.
Ordered a set from I.M.D.   Top and second rings are unique - the way they're supposed to be !    So far, Totally Happy !
And while on the topic of "Aftermarket parts" - Don't even consider Head Gaskets from "Italian Metals"
