Probably the route that Stiggy could go, just wrap the perforated tube with muffler glass wool, filling the whole of the inside of the muffler casing, would probably sound nicer whilst having the same back pressure as the original muffler. The way to stop the fibre glass packing blowing out through the tube perforations is to wrap the perforated tube in very fine stainless steel mesh.

The original one does not have glass wool or any mesh inside. The problem with the original is that the inner tube is welded to the end cone and via internal baffles to the body.
This results eventually in cracking of the end cone due to heat expansion. This will be a problem also with stainless ones. I know how to avoid that. I have one original muffler I could sell to you cheaply for cutting open. PM me for details

We know that ;) We were just throwing ideas around that Stiggy could maybe do instead :)

Some useful info there guys. I had already planned to make the perforated baffle tube a separate entity to the last section of outlet tube but for a different reason.....constructability.
Interesting that there is no absorbion material in there.... but that solves an issue of how to get the finished items chromed without getting any soft filling wetted with chemicals .
