Hi Bar , our measures are a little different in the UK. Here , there is 4.5 Litres to a Gallon , and our Gallon [ Imperial ] is 160 fluid Ounces , whereas in America it is 128 Fluid Ounces .

I consider Scotch to be pretty savvy when it comes to our carburetors and he's been doing some incredible mods to the carbs and recording his results. In an attempt to help Paul understand that his mileage results were better than just acceptable, I converted Paul's 10 miles per liter to miles per imperial gallon and then related that to Scotch's posted results after his latest mods. In other words, comparing apples to apples.

An accident waiting to happen. Measure in one scale, convert to another and then convert to a third scale to calculate the required fuel to safely travel and all calculations done by one human and not independently calculated by a second human and then results compared.

All this brings me back to the times when I performed Root Cause Investigation Analysis. There is never a single point in the events of an incident or accident that someone couldn't have said "I wonder if we should stop and do some checks before we proceed". After performing countless investigations I found that there are always several points in time when, if one person had asked the question and stopped to confirm that "gut feeling", that the incident or accident could have been averted.

WRT using the right measures: The Royal Engineers constructed roads in the Falkland Islands. There are massive "V" shaped drainage ditches either side of the roads that are big enough to trap a Land Rover. Rumour has it that the annual rainfall figures were confused with monthly rainfall figures and the ditches are 12 times bigger than they need to be - quite scary when snow can completely obliterate the roads in 30 minutes and you have no idea where the side of the road ends and the ditches start
