Bucko wrote: Thanks Bar. Will check that out. It's the 3 pin connector that is part of the reason why I couldn't find it. Is the "small bracket with two relays " the bracket that is screwed into the frame and also holds the sub R/R?

Yes, this is the one, see pictures
they are not the best but this is what I have

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Mystery solved. The 3 pin connector had been replaced with 3 individual bullet connectors that were completely burnt, corroded and welded together. I replaced them with a 4 pin connector as I didn't have any 3 pin in 6.3mm size. Will replace at some point in the future.

Interesting discussion: which connector type, bullet vs spade, is rated for higher current. I assume it's the spade but will need to check.

Can you post a close-up picture of the 3 pin connector so I know what to look for in a replacement?. Thanks.

I ended up ordering the connectors from Eastern Beaver in Japan. I used them before and their shipping has been (for whatever reason) faster than from the US. In addition they send via 'the mail' (airmail actually) so I won't get dinged with (or very little) a brokerage fee like I do with the other courier companies..
