Thanks for the photos of the Spruce Goose, Tackelhappy. I'd forgotten about that. Wouldn't it be great to fire up all eight engines again? And we could use it for bulk transportation of KZ1300s, so that we could have a world rally. Am I right in thinking Kawboy has piloting experience? Or is it Scotch? I'm sure between them, they'd soon get the hang of flying that monster. Fuel consumption might be a worry though.

Just ignore me. I've been cooped up at home for five months, caring for my 93 year old mother who is ill. I think it is affecting my mental state. A bit like Kawboy being kept out of his workshop by the Canadian winter.

Scotch and I would make a good pair in a plane. I have piloting experience and I could keep the thing flying. Scotch is certified as a jump master and if I mess up, he could get us both in a chute and leave the plane to its own demise. :side:

kawboy, This is the one and only Spruce Goose we're talking about - if you 'mess up' I would expect you, as captain, to go down with the ship (plane), fighting to regain control to the very last moment! I vow that we would hold a fitting memorial tribute to you, if the worst happened!

An interesting fact: Those 28 cylinder Pratt & Whitney engines have twin spark plugs of course, and were prone to fouling if correct starting procedure was not followed. With eight engines, we'd better master the starting procedure!
Here's what we can expect:

Liar Liar pants on fire !! What you meant was you don't do tandems with Kawboys. Cowgirls, well now that's a different story. A little birdie in the back of my head says I even have a photo of you in a tandem jump.
And if you won't put me in a chute and it makes the rest of the boys happy, I'll go down with the ship but we'll be waiting on the tarmack waiting for Scotch to show up and say "nice recovery". My kids used to call me Mc Iver. I've saved my sorry ass more times than not with whatever I could get my hands on at the time.

I have just imagined Dante's Inferno.
Two hapless canadians - who haven't practised their aircraft evacuation techniques and servicing requirements of the affore mentioned Hughes H-4 have decided to fly all known kawasaki 1300's to the world rally - along many H1's and H2s. Now image an engine that had a known history of catching fire , all housed together in an aircraft made of wood and highly inflamible glue.
