Admirable. What a hugely capable guy you are, Kawboy.  I’m sure that all of us who have enjoyed reading your posts,  or benefitted from your advice, will take great interest in following progress on your own KZ1300 project.

Getting closer to the finished line. I thought I had a nephew lined up to help out but he ditched me at the last minute. Too busy, so I've been plugging along on my own. Fighting the heat as high as 39 Cel for almost a week and then torrential rain storms Like I've never seen before.....
Try putting up a 28 ft. long LVL 2 ply beam by yourself and it's perched 16 ft in the air. did it with a single chain block mounted on the 16 ft tall outboard post. I also had to figure out the height of the walls and rafter design to marry in the roofline to continue the roof on the right side.
The "engineered drawings" also called for studded support between the new over roof and the old roof below for snow load. that was a pain to build out. on top of that, the LVL had to be supported inboard on the studded wall of the house and I had one rafter in the way of perching the support beam on the king stud of the wall.
Needless to say it's been time consuming and taking me away from working on my bike. Things have been too quiet here on the site and I figured SOMEBODY needed to write SOMETHING so I'm writing to give a reason for not writing about my restoration/ build.

LVL lifted in place

Rafters up

Roofline continues on right side. 2 hours of figuring out how to make this work

Left side with the valley. Shingles finished.

Supports in to support the new gable end on to the old roof for snow load plus the beam and post to support the LVL beam.

When you get done with that 'little' project, I have a 'little' project for you?

Excellent work, Kawboy.  I’d be interested to see further updates as the job progresses.

Rounding the last corner and headed for the finish line.

Inside ceiling and facia closing in the roof completed.

All the vinyl windows in although 1 of the frames got bent in shipping so that window is mounted temporarily just to close in the room so that the carpet guys can come and install the carpet next week.

12ft x 19ft room with a ceiling height of 16ft 8in. i had to shrink the photo to get the entire south side in the picture.

Couple more days of little stuff to do and I'm done. !!
I'm pissed about the aluminum wrap on the south side. It warps and looks ugly when the sun hits it. Not much I can do about it. I knew it would happen before I installed it but there's just no way to float it and give it room to move.

It looks superb! What a fantastic achievement, Kawboy, all the more so since you did it without any physical assistance.  I have such admiration for rare people like you, who can turn their hand successfully to any project. Unfortunately, the younger generation doesn’t seem to be interested in manual skills.  In Britain, we have a shortage of home grown trades men and women - plumbers, electricians, bricklayers etc..

I hope , when the  carpet is fitted, you install your favourite chair, brew some coffee or tea, and take the time to rest, reflect, and enjoy the results of your work.

As for the warping aluminium, that metal does have a high coefficient of expansion. Is there a suitable alternative material?
