Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new machine. Lots of help is here for you.
I think one of the reasons for the extended oil pan was the bike had could starve for oil in long sweeping curves and also would starve in during wheelies if you were so inclined and had the skill to keep this heavy beast of one wheel for long periods.
Reliable... well... depends on how well you restore and take care of it. If properly cared for it will be reliable for years. carbs are problematic but if torn down and rebuilt the way they should be, along quality fuel and filter, should also last.

Here are some pictures. The fuel Tank looks great inside. I don't see any problems with it.
I need some opinions about the Nylon sprocket. Still good or is it a no go.
