My 10 pence worth
Just to agree that the AW82 coils are perfect to use as a replacement for the old coils and ballast resistor.
they are 2.4 - 2.6 ohm, and you can replace the HT leads.
I have read that any higher and eventually you will damage your cdi unit
Ive just fitted these to my rebuilt A5 and it starts and runs smoothly.

Ian,
Spot on mate, thats 100% true.
You can actually see the difference in the quality of spark between the old coils & new coils. Its a "must do" modification just like the Camchain Tensioner.

I'm getting set up to do the swap on my 13. I have the coils and am in the process of ordering new plug wire and ends. My question is, what caps are you using on the coil end if any? My coils came without wires and all the caps off my original stuff is hard and brittle.

your coils should have a thin plastic washer that just fits over your HT lead
( in fact its a Buggah to get on ) and a screw on plastic cap that holds it all together on the coils. ( a bit of silicone grease helps you get the lead into the coil )
ive not seen these caps for sale on there own, they normally come with the coil pack
you can get a DW82 coil from a gold wing they have the same screw on caps but are a higher ohm coil
i used silicone HT lead with NGK plug caps

Thanks Ian. My coils didn't come with the caps. I'm sure I can make something work until I come across the correct caps.
