Good news, i have managed to save my jar of Lucas loom smoke.
the transistor arrived last week from the land of Hell Yeh.
soldered in tonight and connected to the loom.
i have half a tank of petrol and the bike runs hot according to the gauge.
the fan temp switch says its not that hot so probably not quite the same
value transistor or something else is down on the board, i need to put a voltmeter across the wires and check.
had enough for one day with re building the carbs getting the fuel system sorted.

im thinking of modifying the clocks with smiths inserts and senders and doing away with the voltage dropper.
