Believing the manufactured gear position stator I purchased wouldn't work due to conflicts with a fabricated contact and the "Pin Holder" bolt, I opted to make my own stator. With the bugs worked out and my working version now as a reference I have discovered that the stator pictured below will work. A much simpler contact design solved the problems and makes this project much easier for anyone attempting to tackle the project.
Stay away from this one ! Looks the same until you compare the contacts. Garbage !
A simpler contact:
The 10mm "Pin Holder Bolt" needs to be replaced with an Allen head. Most switches have usable contacts inside. Something similar to the one in the photo can be soldered to the Steel-Banding. The large washer is necessary to reduce flexing of the spring-steel banding.
No more versions ! I promise !

It will when I get rid of the "Neutral". My label maker is outta tape.
And for the record: Aside from everything else; it took 3 hours just to remove the green lens with a #10 Exacto-blade !
