That oil light is an indication of oil level and/ or oil pressure. If I remember right there's a diagnoses in the manual regarding each of the circuits. It could be indicating one or the other. Check the manual. Either way I wouldn't be running it till you get it figured out.

Edit note- I believe you can unplug the wire coming from the engine oil level switch at the back of the engine, a pigtail coming from around the halfjoint of the crankcase. If the light goes out, then you need to source the issue with the level switch. There are a couple of posts regarding the level switch and issues with it.

Here's a read for you. www.kz1300.com/index.php/forum/welcome-m...ight-on?limitstart=0

When I had the sump off last I cleaned the level sensor in the hope of stopping it playing up, but it didn't so I disconnected it as mentioned by Kawboy. As said you can keep an eye on the level with the sightglass.

Maybe disconnecting the battery will reset it. I added another quart of oil and it still isn't more than at the middle of the sight glass.

I remember "Tyler" saying that he ran it well up into the sight glass, like 3/4's up the glass to keep it happy.
