hi there,
Please check out this link www.geocities.ws/loudgpz/GPZgmHEImod.html
It has all the info you need.
So far this has proved to be a good solution for the expensive igniter replacement out there.
So far this mode is working really good on my bike and if something will go wrong it is very easy to troubleshoot.
Dan

Agmonmarine, Thanks for the photo of the HEI conversion, and the link to the information on how to do it. This is a very cost effective and efficient solution to a failed igniter on a 1979/1980 KZ1300 or Z1300. The GM ignition modules are cheap and ubiquitous. Some people chose to use the GM coil pack in conjunction with the HEI conversion. It too is cheap, plentiful, and almost universally available. The only drawback is that it almost has to be mounted in the tool tray. This negates the ability to carry the tool kit there, and also requires removal of the coil pack to replace the air filter.
