broke down, quick help

I did some tour last Saturday, parallel to the river Rhine northbound on the French side and return on the German side. Did like the French side better,less cars on the road, better roads.Decided to fuel -up in Switzerland as it is much cheaper than anywhere else (there must be an advantage living close to the borders). I had just entered Switzerland (which is no big thing) when I pulled the clutch, guess you know it.
The clutch cable had snapped. Called the assistance number from the German Automobile Club, they contacted the Swiss Automobile Club and after around 45 minutes max. I had the assistance of a friendly Swiss expert who arrive with a trailer. Repair was no option, so he offered to take me to the nearest Swiss or German Kawasaki repair shop. I opted for the German one in my home town. Arriving there it looked in state of reconstruction so he took me the additional 1.5 kms to my home adress.
How much better it feels when the bike, broken down, sits in MY garage rather than somewhere else. Made my day.

This brought up an interesting question for me.
We have CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) insurance option in Canada. Similar to the AAA (American Automobile Association ) in the USA. The CAA has 3 levels of roadside assistance. Standard , Plus and Premium. Plus and premium offer roadside assistance for automobiles and motorcycles with tow options or flatbed service  up to 4 times per year and 200KM max per tow for Plus and 300 Km per tow for Premium. When romping around on 45 year old motorcycles, It sounds like good insurance to have.

Agreed, a couple of years ago we had a motorcycle stolen from one of our training ranges. It had been gone only one day before it was spotted and recovered. The police, as is their duty, called for a tow which went to the towing company's yard. When I arrived at the tow yard I learned that they had had the bike for 22 hours, across two dates. The towing company charged me for two days of storage which pushed the tow charge to $643.00 for a 15 mile tow.
Insurance would have been good to have.

I don't believe it: broke down AGAIN. Bike stopped running while driving (Switzerland again). Tank still with fuel, batterie sound OK, start-motor is turning, but I can not get her running. I suspect the valve that had been installed by my mechanic is either broke or does not get electricity, so it shut down. I usually can switch it open or close manually, but it stopped to click. 
Bike sits now in a foreign country and OUTSIDE.

I don't feel well with that ...
