Custom Z1300 or KZ1300 DFI Fuel Injection Conversion Kit - $1500 USD - OUT OF STOCK AS OF 11/09!

In the pictures above everything is accurate as of 11/09.  I provide a remote fuel pressure gauge and custom gauge pod in the kit, but alternatively, you could stick with the gauge mounted on the side of the fuel pressure regulator where it would be hidden up under the seat.  I've deleted the cruise switch.  All kits now come with a 'kit specific' set of custom armor braided throttle cables that I had made specifically for this conversion.

I have 3 pages in my tech articles section on this site (links are below) showing how I developed this kit and what it entails, so I won't reiterate all that info here, but what I've done is develop a kit for converting your carbureted Z1300 or KZ1300 to fuel injection using stock Kawasaki DFI parts from a ZN1300 6-cyl Voyager.  Specifically from the 1300 Voyager I use the DFI computer, throttle bodies with TPS and fuel rail, DFI wiring harness, air temp sensor and cylinder head temp sensor.  I add some aftermarket parts like an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, remote fuel pressure gauge, fuel line quick disconnects, metal fuel return line bung, various fuel line fittings and high pressure fuel injection hose.

The stock DFI wiring harness has to be modified somewhat so it will adapt to the various changes over the years in the Z1300/KZ1300 wiring harness, but it's pretty straightforward.  There are parts I make from scratch like a mounting bracket to relocate the battery, which also that holds the fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator in place.  I also make a custom gauge pod to mount a remote 2.5" liquid filled fuel pressure gauge to the bikes frame on the right side.

Originally I was making my own air filters, but now you can see the custom filters I had made for this conversion.  These POD filters have since been discontinued.  There are some other aftermarket parts I provide like a crankcase breather, air induction breather and adjustable fuel pressure regulator.  If you want to know the history of how I developed this idea, the following pages have step by step info on each part showing how I made my initial prototype 'kit', and how I made changes in the succeeding kits as I developed alternate ways of mounting the pieces together.

As you can see, I've tried to make this kit a bolt-on arrangement that takes very little mechanical skill to mount up.  You will have to solder one wire for sure, as it's the power wire that feeds your fuse box.  You can't just have a crimp connection on such an important connection like that.  This kit is designed to use the Hawker battery which we discuss on the FAQ page and on the Hawker tech article.  If you don't want to make these changes to your bike, then you probably shouldn't be buying this kit, because I don't intend to offer but one kit design.  However, you could buy this kit and come up with your own mounting bracket if you wish, and if I provide everything but the bracket I would knock $100 off the kit price.

Shipping weight is about 30 lbs.  All of these pictures were from an 81' KZ1300 I had for sale in 2007 that I was using as my 'test mule' at the time -

Custom made Pod style air filters to fit ZN1300 Voyager with fuel injection throttle bodies or a Z1300 or KZ1300 with carburetors.

$75 each set of 3 pod filters (3 are enough to do one bike) - not sold individually.

PODS are discontinued!

If you want some of these you can email me and I'll put you on the waiting list assuming I'm ever able to reorder.  Manufacturer raised me from a $1000 minimum order to a $5000 minimum.  I always had a hard time making the $1000 minimum as it was.  Coming up with $5000 is impossible unless someone wants to invest $4000 of their money to buy a bunch of PODS.  I'd put in the other $1000.  But it would take you 10 years to sell them all!

kz1300-pod-air-filter7456s.jpg (136263 bytes) kz1300-pod-air-filter7455s.jpg (127476 bytes)   These are the first set of mass produced filters to fit the Kawasaki 1300 bikes that to my knowledge, have ever been made.  There are no other filters of this type available worldwide that are specifically made for our bike!  These will fit all Kawasaki 1300 models including:  Z1300, KZ1300, ZN1300 (Voyager 1300), or ZG1300 as noted.  There's also an old Suzuki, maybe a GS550 I think that has an oval carb like ours, and it should fit that bike as well.

NOTE: On these newer browsers I've noticed that they don't always display my large images in full size when you open an image from the thumbnails below.  Once you click the thumbnail and open the larger image, if you 'mouse over' the image you should see a " + " symbol or some other indicator like a box with arrows usually on the bottom right edge of the image.  If you click on the indicator, then the image will expand to it's full size which displays full screen on computers that use a 800 x 600 resolution setting for the monitor.  If you click the indicator again it will go back to the smaller image. Some people use a resolution setting of 1024 x 768 or higher on their monitors and for those users the images will appear smaller than full screen in size.  You can change your monitor settings easily enough if you desire.  Also, the indicator I've noticed is slow to appear even after the image appears to of completely loaded.  The indicator in Netscape seems to be a lot faster to display than the one in Internet Explorer.
