My first 84' Voyager I sold on ebay for $1500 with low compression and a bad
clutch.
My latest 84' Voyager bought off the Bike Ads BB for $600 in July 2000. This was a 20,000 mile wrecked bike I bought
in St. Louis sight unseen for parts, but after I looked it over I decided to fix it instead.
So far it's turned out to be a good
rider though, it's been to multiple Rallies and I've just repainted it, made a few
updates and did normal maintenance starting in 5/05!
Current condition as of 9/05. It was past time to repaint the bike so I
stripped all the body parts down to the bare plastic and had it all painted a
'Passion Pearl' color by 'House Of Colors'. The wife likes purple so she
gets purple. I'm going to reserve judgment until I see the finished
product. There will be a tech article on fixing cracked fairings that was
this one here that I had fiber-glassed for my bike. A local body shop did
the fiber-glass repair and paint for about $1000. Over $300 of that was
just for paint and supplies!
Current condition as of 10/05. I get the
bike together just in time for our second annual bike ride they do at the Christ
Fellowship Church in Tomball, Texas. This year we went to Canyon Lake,
Austin, Bandero, Buda and surrounding areas of Texas. We also do quite a
few weekend rides around the outlying Houston area.
80' B2 with 25k miles for sale as of 9/05 with bad motor. When it was
running this bike rode like a new one.
1979 KZ1300 A1 with 7103 original miles! I bought this bike early 2003' and fixed it up after it had been sitting for many years and sold it in 3/03 to a new member, Russ Ostic in Michigan who is posted below with more pictures. That's me, my son Ross and wife Marie. david@kz1300.com

I had it professionally painted and pinstriped to match the rest of the original 1982 finish. Kind of looks like the fuel injected Z1300's sold in Europe with that larger tank or like that zero mile bike in the British Isles on your website. I have located about 3 more local KZ1300 owners. Last but not least, I won 1st place " Best Japanese Classic" at the August 25, 2002 "Monster Meet" motorcycle show in South Jersey sponsored by Motorcycle Monthly magazine with this very bike. Thanks, Chris Bombeke (New Jersey).

Jim Rivers in Cambria, California, #1 candidate to host our 2003 Rally in
California! Yes it is gun metal, it's been a year and a half in the making!
Had to pull the top end twice and replace the cam chain tensioner the 1st time and fired it up and found out the lower wheel had went bad and took out 6 valves.
Ported and polished the cylinder head removed about 30 lbs of wires and went through the bike axel to
axel. I had this bike new in 79 sold in 80 and it showed up in my friends garage full dressed and with only 3000 more miles on it, it hasn't been ridden since 86, until now..
I did everything to it that I didn't have the time to do when I owned it new.
Now I start on #2 which I'm going to incorporate the 2 carb manifold and automotive
distributor ignition.

Here in town (Spokane Wa.) I've seen a full-dressed KZ1300 and the model just below it the sport dresser with the Vetter hard bags & trunk &
fairing and then there's mine which you've seen, so I don't know what's
what! Your web-site is Awesome!! I was like a little kid in the candy store
looking at all the 1300's some real fine add-ons
recreations-transformations. Its nice to see that there are others around!
As I was feeling like a Dinosaur in modern society! My bike is modest in comparison to the
ones on your web-site! And too I would like to join the 1300 club so let me know what
that entails. Jeff Barrett PS.Thanks for your comments on my cycle--I try!

KZ1300 owned by member Bill Matchus - Here are some pics of my bike and the installed brake kit.
The kit required hunting down some mounting hardware and tapping for the mounting bolts.
It was well worth it. The bike stops like a sportbike. Smooth, fast, fade free, and controlably.
With 1 finger! Besides the brakes I've also installed the Dyna ignition, Progressive Suspension fork springs and shocks, fork brace, a fresh motor and
paint. The paint is a 93' Chrysler color with the factory decal kit installed.

I’ve been on and off the KZ1300 site for several years now.
I have learned some valuable information and want to thank everyone for maintaining the site.
I was viewing the site and CAN’T BELIEVE I missed the 2002 rally. I grew up in Baraboo and only live about 90 min. north of there.
I’m kicking myself for not keeping up to date. If ever there is a rally in the area, feel free to e-mail me with the information.
I’d love to be a part of the group.
After viewing your member bike photos I thought I’d send you one of my bike.
I have a 1979 that I purchased in 1991 from a fellow in Madison, WI. It had 21,000 miles on it when I bought it and has 54,000 miles on it now.
The AIS system was removed prior to my purchasing the bike. It has D&G pipes, shorter bars and a Tracy Design Street fighter fairing.
I also have a Pacifo touring fairing, vetter hard bags, luggage rack, sissy bar, and stock seat for the bike.
The bike is a true convertible from street fighter to touring rig. The paint is original and the bike still runs good.
I have rebuilt the cam chain tensioner but have yet to do the conversion. Coils are also in need of replacement (housings are cracked but they still function).
The valve seals were replaces in 1994 or so (plugs fouling) and piston #1 and sleeve were changed out (a few thousandths out of round) at the same time.
I have attached two pictures. One of my 1300 and one of my 'fleet'.
My 1978 KZ1000 was purchased in 1986 with 7800 miles on it. It now has
52,000 on it and runs like a top.
The 1989 XT 600 Yamaha was purchased in 2002 as a play toy (as I haven’t been in the dirt since 1986 when I got rid of my H9) the 2001 FZ1 is the only bike I have ever purchased new and is a real joy to ride.
There is nothing, however, that can match the smooth power and one of a kind sound of my 1300.
Sincerely,
Marvin Ashby's beautiful 79' with 11k miles in Noblesville, Indiana.

I met up with Doug 4/03 on a trip I took to the Sturgis area to buy a Voyager from another member. I took some pictures of a small springtime snowstorm the day I was in Mitchell.
This is the famous Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD
From Mitchell we went across SD and stopped it at the famous Sturgis Harley
Davidson dealership and did some sightseeing in the Black Hills area around
Mount Rushmore. Later in
8/04, I went through Mitchell again with Judge Roy Moore's Ten Commandments
Monument on the back of a flatbed truck and took these 2 pictures -
of Doug and Debbie with the monument and their more recently
purchased 1200 Voyager. They still had the 1300 also.

I bought my bike in March of '82 (new, from the local dealer). I bought the trailer at the Milwaukee Sports Show the next month and had the trailer, the saddle bag doors, and the side panels on the trunk, painted to match the bike. Then I personally customized the pin-striping on everything. Twenty-one years later, my bike has only 25,106 original miles on it. I'm looking forward to making the modifications we talked about to get it running right so I can get the miles more proportionate to the bike's age.

I found a few of my bike pictures from one of my Death Valley rides. It was a one day trip from Orange County (Irvine - Huntington Beach) up to the high desert to Baker (10W, 15N, 127N to Baker); make a left at the worlds tallest thermometer, down into the valley. Its a fast ride; not too much out there; wide open. Around the valley; past the great salt lake (badwater), furnace creek, death valley museum area, back out of the valley west past the dunes and south to LA. It's pretty spectacular. Avg temp in feb is around 70. The last time I went (Feb 98), it snowed. Really weird place.
