If you have something that should be on this page just send an email to david@kz1300.com with the pertinent information. I'll give this page my top priority. Keep in mind that this page is ONLY for 1300 Clubs, businesses or specific people that sell parts to fit a 1300, links to 1300 reference materials or historical information including 1300 magazine articles, 1300 specs, etc., with few exceptions. Exceptions mainly include items I think may be handy for 1300 owners and things like motorcycle trailers, motorcycle shippers, ebay sellers, 1300 friendly shops, people that make custom parts and are capable of making something for us, specific clothing, accessories, etc..
I probably wouldn't include many clothes as they're too general in nature, unless there's some good reason to include the specific product here. Any company is welcome here that has parts that specifically fit a 1300. Be sure to include the "URL" or web address in your email along with pricing, shipping info, contact person or whatever other pertinent information we need to know about the link you're sending. If any of these links fail to work, please let me know so I can update them, and please be very specific when you do. This is a huge page as you can see.

Note on Service Manuals:
If you don't have a manual, there are posts on the links page of places to buy New or Used manuals and/or microfiche on the web for a good price. Used manuals can be bought at auction on ebay.com easily for as little as $15 to $30 on occasion, to maybe $35.00 or more, depending on who you're bidding against that week. New manuals are about $55 - $65 last I checked, so don't pay too much for a used one. I have links to new manuals as the first item on this page just below.
There are basically 2 main service manuals. One is the base manual for all the Z1300 or KZ1300 carb models, and the other is a ZN1300 Voyager Supplement Manual. The Voyager Supplement Manual is only needed if you own a fuel injected ZN1300 Voyager, or possibly a fuel injected ZG1300. So if you own a Voyager ZN1300 or fuel injected ZG1300 you need both manuals. If you own a Z1300 or KZ1300 through 1983 which was the last year for the carb bikes, you only need the KZ1300 Base manual.
The ZG1300 is a European model not sold in the USA. It looks like a Z1300 or KZ1300, but it has basically the same fuel injection system, as used on our 83' and newer ZN1300 Voyagers sold here in the USA. For it, you'll need both manuals - the Base and the Supplement. Now there may be another specific ZG1300 Supplement manual that was sold overseas that I'm not aware of, that deals specifically with the fuel injected ZG1300 model. I've never heard of a specific ZG1300 manual, but there must be one and I'm not aware of it.
Also, there are different year printings on the manuals. So if you have an 81', 82', or 83' KZ1300 model, you can't use a base manual that was printed in 80' for example, because it won't cover but 79' and 80' models. Be sure to look on the back pages to see if it has supplements for the 81', 82', 83', etc. The newer printings have the 83' KZ1300 models also. Again, ALL the manuals cover the 79' and 80' model, but if you've got an 81', 82' or 83', then you need to check the back pages of the manual to make sure it has a supplement for 81', 82' or 83' if that's the year bike you have.
I'm specifically referring to the few extra pages in the very back of the Base manual referred to as 'supplement pages', that cover changes made to the bike specifically for 81', 82' and 83' models. If you own an 81', 82' or 83' model, you have to have the corresponding supplement in the back of the manual to fix the parts of your bike that are covered in those single year 'supplement' pages.
There are a number of
reference manuals for the ZN1300 Voyager besides the Base Service Manual and
Service Manual Supplement that I describe above. Depends on what part of

on that page on the paid member DVD's if you choose to become a paid member.
But maybe you can find hardcopy versions of these special manuals from time to
time on ebay if you prefer to try that route.
To reiterate. If you need to do mechanical service on a ZN1300 Voyager or
possibly a ZG1300, you need the KZ1300 'Base Manual' and the ZN1300 Voyager
'Service Manual Supplement'. Manuals with a White cover SHOULD be newer
printings, and manuals with RED covers are typically older printings of our
manuals as I understand it. A manual with a red cover could be a late printing with the 83'
model supplements in the back, but you will definitely want to check the back
pages if you're buying one of these manuals used.
Regardless, you have to make sure the base manual is a later printing and has (at minimum) the 82' KZ1300 supplement pages in the back of it. If it covers the 1983 model also, then that's preferred. Very few 1983 KZ1300's ever made. I only have 2 or 3 bikes in my members database that were 1983 model KZ1300's. Otherwise you'll be missing a few things that pertain to the Voyager because the 82'/83' KZ1300 and Voyager share some items like charging system pieces, alternators, rotors, engine cases, engine covers, etc. Maybe some of the very things you're trying to fix. Without AT LEAST the 1982 supplement pages in the back of the base manual, you'll be missing info on these parts. This Z 1300 was modified by Klasmo-Bikes in 1996. The powerful appearance Kawas Big
Chief, typical for the KZ 1300 was only slightly supplemented by sporty elements.
Many new parts were constructed newly in connection with this modification and were tested thoroughly tested under
turbo conditions. Afterwards, various Kawa - and KZ1300 meetings in Europe were visited.
Thus, many Z-fans know our turbo. Under the eyes of many Z-fans, on public Z-meetings we show the engine power with Dyno Jet tester, engine performances up to 213 PS were being measured on the back wheel.
Since 1996 the turbo has driven a total of 15195 mls.
In 2002, we decided to give our good old turbo an update and to inspect the whole engine. On this occasion, the piston stroke was extended to roughly 1600 ccm, some parts were exchanged for new ones such as a new V2A exhaust. We will give you more information on this modification in about five months.
The tailpiece of the Z1300 has been exchanged for the rear of a Z1000R/J, the seat has been adjusted accordingly. The small tank has been taken from a US-made KZ1300A1. The chassis was supposed to be slightly optimized for the Turbo charger kit. For this reason, the headset bearing has been replaced by our special bearing set and the fork spring has been exchanged for a stronger one. The stabilizer of Tarozzi provides additional attenuation. Easier operation of the clutch is possible with the our new hydraulic clutch, the Tarozzi foot rest system comfortable seating. We have exchanged the standard breaks, being a little weak, for our complete new construction that includes swimming 320mm discs/ floaters and four piston break caliper. The breaking distance has become accordingly short.
The size of the wheels should fulfill the conditions of today’s road performance. For this reason, the original rim has been widened, the swing arm has been adjusted and strengthened. With the new breadth of 120/70 at the front and 170/60 at the rear, the chassis can be wonderfully driven. An visual extra we wanted to give the Z was, to the horror of our aluminum-polisher, completely polished rims. Although "never again" was uttered frequently, the result of the work is really impressive.
The six cylinders have been adjusted accordingly by a partly used Turbo set and have been tested on a dyno tester. The engine has remained original, apart from a few parts subject to wear and tear. Only 1420ccm REC pistons with a 8.5:1 compression have been installed. The cylinder head and the intake manifold have been completely finished in order to much better gas flow (flow bench). In order to optimize the ignition, Accel ignition coils have been installed in combination with a modernized Dyna 2000 ignition kit. Other spare parts that were modified are listed below.

This is rebuilt on ca 1480cc at the moment. We have within the last few years employed the

brake system, a hydraulic coupling, widening of the series rims, Turbo ... so for example.
We are working on a new rear brake master cylinder as well as a new exhaust plant in V2a at the moment.
We would be very happy if our products are introduced with you. We have worked on a new shop since this year. The new completely revised shop is more easily for the search of spare parts and offers more faster information. We hope also the part info are correctly. I would be fine if you inform us about mistake to parts numbers. Among other things we have the search of spare parts on the original spare part number. Many used and accessory spare parts have a Kawasaki number with ending K for Kawasaki new, or G for used... and so on.
There various innovations in addition are trained for Z fans. These already
partly become our various second-hand parts there, too being gelistet. The best way is to collect order, to get a cheapest shipping rate.

We make a 6-2 with near replica stainless mufflers and chrome headers (also near replica) which we sell for US $645.00.

Stainless exhaust systems made by Predator in the UK
They make a 6 into 1 system and two 6 into 2 stainless exhaust systems. They also sell just the down-pipes for those that want to build their own exhaust which is handy, because the down-pipes are the hardest part to make. Since no aftermarket exhaust was ever made for the ZN1300 Voyager that I'm aware of, we could use these down-pipes to build our own. This Predator system is the closest look to the original style OEM exhaust on our Z1300's that's being made anywhere that I'm aware of. Check my KZ1300 parts page on this site for reproduction style stainless mufflers from a member in Finland that could possibly be used with these downpipes to give you a complete system similar to OEM style.

I will Surface Grind
your stock brake rotors for $40 to surface grind one motorcycle brake rotor. These rotors are stainless steel and cannot be turned on a conventional automotive brake lathe.
All work is performed on a rotary surface grinder to exacting tolerances. Newer style floating rotors cannot be surface ground, only the fixed type used on these older bikes.
Usually grooved or warped rotors are replaced but this process brings new life to your
original pieces and leaves a nice finish. Simply ship you rotor after winning the auction and it will be shipped back within one week of
being received. If you have multiple rotors or would like to purchase additional services please contact me to make arrangements.
Drilling is also available and is done on a dedicated mill and rotary index table using all cobalt tooling.
Anyone who has tried working with stainless steel knows it is difficult to machine and wears out tooling quickly.
Drilling is done in a 4 step process: centering bit, 1/4" drill, 3/8" drill and finally champhering.
Since all work is done on precision equipment, hole placement is consistent and all workmanship is
guaranteed to be of the highest quality. The price for drilling per rotor is $65.00 for a 36 hole pattern and $95.00 for a 72 hole pattern.
In the early 90's I started collecting and building vintage Japanese super-bikes as a hobby. I was a young teen at the time so it was rather unusual for a person of my age to take an interest in these older bikes and not get into modern sport-bikes. There was something about them that just fascinated me. The styling, simplicity, and vintage appeal that comes with these pieces of motorcycle history. My first real bike was a Mid 70's Honda CB750F super sport. I was 16 at the time and bought the bike for a mere 100 dollars sitting under a tree. It had been equipped with 4 into 1 exhaust, K&N filters, jetting, and a Norris cam. Within a week I was riding this beast and was hooked for life.
Like most I started out on dirt bikes but the street was where I really wanted to be. Within 6 months I had clip-on bars, rear sets, solo seat, and other mods. This established the design parameters that have continued to this day, vintage road-racer with lights! I began accumulating all of the air cooled four cylinders I could get my hands on. On my quest to get more horsepower I soon realized how little was still available as far as high performance engine components. You can still get just about everything for CB750's, KZ1000's and such but the smaller displacement bikes were just out of the question.
This led me to develop my own components.
In 1996 at the age of 19 I got a job at a motorcycle machine shop. This marked the point at which I was able to make my ideas become reality and started building my skills at porting, machining, and high performance engine design.
In 2000 I began working for an automotive machine shop as a cylinder head technician
and continue to work there to this day. In the past few years I have been able to develop valve train components that were not available on the market.
These parts are limited and were produced just for my own projects. I have made some of these available online and hope to bring others to market for the rest of the world to enjoy as time allows.
I also stock many automotive products to help fund the research and development that goes in to making these products available.
On my spare time I do side work for fellow vintage enthusiasts. Due to a tight schedule I have limited my services to cylinder and cylinder head related modifications.
Work includes porting, custom built valves, and other misc. tricks. My goal has been to take 2 valve technology to it's full potential.
I am currently working on a big valve, downdraft, straight port head for the CB500/550 SOHC Honda.
I would like to make a kit available but so far only the prototype is under development.
I enjoy building engines for which there are no aftermarket parts available, that is true satisfaction.
Of course cams are still available for just about everything from Megacycle, for which my shop is an authorized dealer.

This allows the rider to fully install the screen, inspect it for fit, and test drive it for performance (given the rider can look over the windshield).

They also make air shocks for the rear with 2 springs available for one or two up riders. These cost around $360 per set, but in my opinion well worth the money for someone that loads the bike down or rides two up on occasion. These are the KZ versions mounted on my 82'. DEW

IKON SUSPENSION is a division of Proven Products, which have specialised in the suspension business since 1962. The IKON range has a European pedigree which goes back all those years and more. IKON's are not the average shock absorber, they feature a number of standards which make them special:

DETAILS OF TWIN SHOCKS, 7610 AND 7610SP8
DAMPER TYPE - The IKON 7610 is a twin tube hydraulic type damper. The damping works by a controlled restriction of oil flow in the inner tube, the outer tube acting as a reservoir. Part numbers with the addition "SP8" are technically identical, but have a polished and chromed spring and spring cover, as well as using the standard chromed damper body.
TUNED TO APPLICATION - Each motorcycle has its own specific set-up and character, so it is impossible to make one standard shock absorber for all. At IKON every damper has been developed for each specific motorcycle to get the best possible combination of damping and spring rate.
ADJUSTABLE DAMPING
By adjusting the rebound damping one can influence the level of comfort and road-holding. The 7610 has 4 distinctive adjustment positions, ranging from comfortable to sporty, to tune the bike to your own preference. Adjustability is very easy: just a finger touch.
PROGRESSIVE SPRING - In a progressive rate spring, the distance between the individual coil windings differ, this gives the spring a progressive characteristic. When riding solo, the spring only moves in the soft area, and the spring can easily compress giving a comfortable ride. When riding with a passenger, or luggage, a firmer spring is needed. Under these conditions, the spring moves in its stiffer area. Only with a progressively wound spring it is possible to get the right combination of a smooth ride and a high load capacity. Progressive springs are standard on all 7610 series shocks.
ADJUSTABLE SPRING SEAT - It is possible to overload the suspension due to excess passenger and/or luggage weight, which means the suspension then bottoms out too easily on big bumps. This can be compensated by adjusting the spring seat upwards to restore the original ride height. Three positions are available, giving an increase in spring seat height of up to 15mm. With each pair of IKON shock absorbers a spanner for adjusting the spring seat height is supplied.
SAFETY - Do not forget that safety is a major issue. The handling of your motorcycle is essential for safe riding. Here the qualities of the IKON shock absorber make a great contribution.

Pingel lists the high flow fuel valve #6211 AH on their website as the correct
valve for KZ1300's and I was told this was correct for our bike by
Tim K. who sent the following -
"The correct valve is a 6211-AH at $60.65, adapter A1702C $10.00, and you can get their SS1P $19.85 fuel filter too. You have to order the fuel tap and the rectangular adapter. You have to widen the hole in the gas tank with a drill bit. The pingel is a little wider than the stock one. It was very easy to do and a very very easy, few minute job.

"The simplest direction is to use a Pingel Fuel
Valve - I put a 4211-CH, and A1702C 44mm adapter on my '80 A2. It works like the original should have.
You can choose the orientation of the fuel outlet (I have mine on the right).
It's the way to go. You will need to remove your tank and enlarge the opening (hole in tank) to fit the
Pingel valve in place, just use a round file.
I was careful to file from below to keep as much debris out of the tank and I changed my in line fuel filter soon after the install.
Spend a little money and you'll be glad you did.
Pingel's SS1P fuel filter with 5/16 inch in and outs that match with the Pingel petcock valve. They have some different styles and lately offered a discount on some of their products. $24.95 includes washable filter.

I did get the following email from a member -
I had explained that I was looking for parts for internal switches that control most of the functions of the
radio. In my search I came along a site which talked about similar radio systems on Kawasaki ZN1300 and Suzuki
Calvalcade's. It went on to mention that the problem with these radios was what I had mentioned, the switches.
So here's the scoop. I bought the switches from Digi-Key, replaced every one of the 12 switches in my radio and it works like new.
It cost me all of $11-$12 including shipping. The part # for the switches are P8080SCT-ND. The web site is digikey.com.
I am sending this info to you as my thanks for the many useful tips I have found on your site.
I hope that you will post this so that other members can benefit as I did.

The Equalizer - Stoplight Changing device
Ever get stuck at a red light?
You know, you pull up to the light on your cycle and then you just sit there.
The light won't change and you either wait for a car to pull up behind you or you wait until there is no one around and then you run the red light hoping that a police officer hasn't witnessed you breaking the law.
I swear that there have been times when people in cars or hanging out on the streets were laughing at me as I sat there for what seemed an eternity.
The reason it happens is because the traffic signal controllers are not adjusted to sense a motorcycle,
especially the left turn arrows. That's because there is so little steel in a bike compared to a car or truck that setting the detectors to sense a bike in the left lane would mean that a larger vehicle traveling straight through the intersection would trip the left turn signal as it went by.
This is a problem that traffic engineers may never be able to solve if we continue to use the same technology for traffic sensing that we use today and there is no reason for them to change due to the low cost and wide usage of that technology.
So what is the frustrated motorcycle rider to do? Get an Equalizer!
Here is the Equalizer shown larger than it's actual size of 1.25" x 2" x .75".
It weighs a little more than 2 ounces and it mounts to the bottom of your motorcycle frame simply using a small piece of double face tape and a zip tie or cable tie, both of which come with the Equalizer.
It takes only a few minutes to install and anyone can do it without using any tools.
Inside the Equalizer is a powerful magnet and the case is designed to be weatherproof and also to insulate the Equalizer from the frame of your bike somewhat so that the force of the magnet is not used up in attraction to the bike but instead is available to set up it's own field beneath the motorcycle.
It will change red lights to green for you.
I have tested this at all of the lights in Keene, NH and Brattleboro, VT, the two cities that I pass through on my way to the mountains that I love to ride in.
I have not found one light in either of those cities that the Equalizer couldn't change. Amazing!

How it works - Traffic signal sensors are essentially metal detectors buried in the road surface.
These "inductive loop" sensors are easy to spot because they have a circular, square, or diamond-shaped saw cut in the pavement just before the intersection.
There is a weak radio frequency field over the coil, and a large inductive mass disturbs that field.
Loop detectors are meant to pick up the presence of large masses of metal like cars and trucks moving over the detector loop.
Most modern bikes don't have enough inductive material in their frames to trip the sensor, and what they have tends to be oriented vertically above the loop (making it harder to sense) so we get stuck.
The Equalizer is a powerful permanent magnet that can be attached to the bottom of practically any bike, so that when that bike is in motion crossing a detector loop, the Equalizer's moving magnetic field disturbs the loop's field, simulating the arrival of a much larger vehicle.
When the control computer sees that signal, it knows someone's there, and the biker gets a green light, just like everyone else.
The Equalizer attaches to the bottom of any bike using double face tape and a cable tie and helps make the bike more "visible" to traffic signal detectors.
Bikes with Equalizers get stuck at red lights far less often than those without.

POR-15 (Heavy Duty Cycle Tank Repair Kit and Paint)
This is a great product for your gas tank repair job, frame painting, brake calipers, aluminum wheels, or what have you. They say that the product is UV sensitive (exterior paint) so you need to use the engine enamel or the BLACKCOTE or other topcoats they sell or your own topcoat as they indicate. The stated problem is that the por-15 used along without a topcoat will fade some because of the UV sensitivity over time. I've used it without topcoating it for some time now on my bikes without seeing any noticeable problem, but my bikes don't sit outside #1, and #2, I ride more at night typically than I get to ride during the day, so my bikes don't see daylight that much. If any of you guys have some experience with this product, please post a response about it. I can tell you a few things from my dealings with the product.
#1) Don't get any of these products on your hands or body! The paint stripper will burn you good! You can get a speck of it on your leg that you can't even see & you'll be on fire. You can take that to the bank! If you get the por-15 on your hands it doesn't come off. It will wear off in about a week or so, but even their solvent won't take it off. Use laytex gloves, put 2 pairs on.
#2) The degreaser will degloss any paint it comes in contact with even when diluted 10 to 1. To clean the inside of your tank 5 to 1 dilution is probably best, & if it gets on the paint it will degloss it on contact. Strong stuff but essential for this product application.
#3) The "Cycle Fuel Tank Kit" for $27 shows it's enough to do a 7 gallon tank, but I would spring for the "Cycle Fuel Tank Kit Plus" at $35 for 10 gallons just to be safe. My previous experience was that what I bought didn't coat quite as much as claimed and the way this stuff goes on you only get one shot at it to do it right. This is the best product in the world for this application no doubt, but I'd spring for the extra $8. Once you've sealed it, it's permanent.
#4) Follow their advise about not touching the part with your bare hands after it's been prepared but before you've painted it. The natural oil off your hands can goof the paint. Keep your gloves on when handling the parts. (We're talking about painting the exterior of a part, not doing the interior of the gas tank. They have paint, primer, topcoat, fuel tank kits, engine enamels and other products).
#5) You should take a short piece of chain & drop in you tank during the cleaning & metal prep process as it's a big help to get all the gum, varnish, or rust out. When you're ready to put the sealer in, the chain will be much easier to fish out than BB's or metal shot, or some such thing.
#6) They sell a small CO2 powered sprayer called a "PreVal" that is really good for small jobs. You could brush this paint on & get excellent results too. The paint flows very well & covers imperfections better than you'd think.
#7) I haven't tried their Hi-Temp engine enamel yet but I know Bill Bryson who's a distributor in my area for this product & he swears by it in his restoration business. He's also very knowledgeable on application questions. A good person to buy your product from, but you can also purchase from the manufacturer if you wish. Links are below.
#8) If you gas tank has small
holes in it they say you can use some fiberglass cloth and soak it with the gas
tank sealer and cover good size holes in your gas tank with it. Once it
dries, it's permanent. Think of it as JB Weld for your gas tank!

I am trying some space age heat barrier on the underside of my gas tank.
I applied a layer of the stuff to underside of tank and it lowered temp in tank by 30 deg. F.
This barrier is only about 1/4" thick and has an adhesive backing to stick to tank.
It is made for exterior use so it should hold up to elements. It has a shinny aluminum (or other compound) to help reflect the heat and a space age insulation material.
They advertise a head reduction of around 40 deg. F. I figure this should be enough to keep the gas from boiling and vapor locking.
Rode this afternoon for about 1 hour at 85-90 mph to make sure it got good and hot.
Temp gauge next to red but no vapor lock. You need the Zero Clearance and it is $67.20.
It is peel and stick.

FYI, this is the trailer I use. It does seem to pull very well, but pulls better loaded than unloaded since it's only 350 LBS by itself and tends to bounce around with no load! I tried lowering the air pressure in the tires substantially as they're rated at 50lbs and that does help some, but I usually try to load it with about 200-300 LBS of weight of some type, and sit that on it when I go on long trips to load it down a little. They say it will haul 2000 LBS and the tires indicate 2720 LBS load carrying capacity between the two for the Load Range C, 50psi tire that came with mine.
The issues I've had with it were that the safety cable looks useless to me so I bought some heavy safety chains and fitted them. Also, since it sits pretty low and the spare tire is underneath in the front it can bottom out easily going over speed-bumps or driveway entrances at even a shallow angle when loaded. One thing that's especially important with this trailer is that your tongue height or ball height where the trailer connects is high enough so that the trailer sits level once you connect it to your vehicle. If it sits perfectly level unloaded, it might be a little lower in the back than the front once you get some weight on it but that is preferable to the front being lower than the back because of the spare tire issue.
A solution would be to mount the spare somewhere else, carry it in your vehicle or fabricate a thin skid plate to keep the spare from getting scuffed up. I just carry it in the back of my truck. You also have to be careful in turns when backing up, as the rail that holds the front motorcycle tires in place, hits our bumper a little too soon and moderately restricts our backup angle. Being able to unbolt these rails is a big plus though, and I've hauled a number of different things on this trailer when I was moving my shop, and it towed everything real nice! It's very stable and smooth out on the road whether you have only one bike on it or two. I bought this at a local bike shop here in Houston for only $1800 new back in 2002'. I think they're a few $100 more now.
There's only one small issue I found on this when I tried to load it the first time. You need to take notice of the fact that the loading ramp mounts upside down from the way you might assume it fits on the back of the trailer. There's a small sticker on the ramp that says "this side up", but if you don't notice that and just hook the ramp on the back it won't be stable enough to load your bike. Using the ramp like that can bend the tang on the end, it's loose when installed the wrong way, and can flip to one side when you roll a bike up the ramp. You actually have to lift the ramp up in the air, hook it in between the tubes and drop it down. Then it's secure. It's funny that the guy that sold me the trailer didn't even know that and put it on the wrong way. When we rolled the bike up the first time it almost fell off! When we looked closer though, we figured out the ramp was upside down. david@kz1300.com
