Hello. I live in Argentina, and trying to repair a 1982 KZ1300. According to my mechanic, I have to replace the connecting rods, (because they are twisted or not aligned).
I found an used set on Ebay, but I donĀ“t know if they fit in my engine. They belong to a A4 model, and mine is A2.
Tried to find them as a spare part, but part number goes from 13251-1006-HH, or 13251-1006-II, or 13251-1051-JJ .
Is this the same part?
A4 rods fit A2 model?
Thanks for your help.

Marcelo,

Welcome !

My understanding is the stroke of all 1300 carb models is the same so the conrods SHOULD be the same length if gudgeon pins are in the same position on the pistons?

I do know the pistons are different from carb models to the later fuel injection models so they may have different con rods too ??

The difference in the part numbers will probably be for different measurment tollenrences on the crank journals ?

I also believe the crank maybe different on the carb model A4 to the earleir A2 as the ignition pick ups and generators are completely different.
The ignition pick ups on an A2 are behind the cylinders whilst they are on the end of the crank on the A4 model.

The conrods on all A1 and A2 models are definitly the same though.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

No idea about what the II, JJ, HH's are sorry but these guys might know.
Bike Master 900

Here are the Parts Diagrams for both the A2 and the A4 side by side and by looking at them together it looks like they might be the same. It would still be nice to know what the difference was between 13251-1051-JJ, 13251-1006-HH and 13251-1006-II though.

The Excel spreadsheet parts list (available from this website) references a 'spec code' with :-
JJ being the 'G' mark
HH being the 'H' mark
II being the 'I' mark

Just found this on ebay and the guy talks about one superseding the other
Ebay Conrod Item

Part number: 13251 1051-JJ superceeded from 13251 1006-GG (13251 1051-GG superceeds to 13251 1051-HH then 13251 1051-JJ so all same part)

Great result finding and showing this info !

Manufacturers often change the suppliers of parts for vehicles, and even if they do the same job and look the same they slightly change the part number, so they can identify the source of the parts later if needs be.

Very helpful and interesting.

Thanks for the feedback Pete. I'm no mechanic but I don't mind doing research and hopefully contributing to the forum in some small way to show my appreciation for all the help I have received from the group this past year. I would never have been able to do what I have done without everyone here who has passed on advice and knowledge.
