You're such a tease Bucko !! Now everyone's going to be questioning their bikes wondering why "they don't get 40 miles to the U.S. gallon" !@#!@#!@. I believe 40 mpg could be possible if and only if fuel injected and fuel map being moderated to an O² feedback signal. A closed loop system without O² would be really hard to do at a lean state without taking a chance of burning a hole in a piston.

There's some really amazing things going on in the automotive world making gas fueled engines almost surmounting fuel efficiency of some of the latest diesel engines. Mercedes with their stratified charged multi-spark dual turbo engines and Mazda's Skyactiv-X compression ignition gasoline engine. And if that's not enough to tempt your taste buds, check out Ferrari's "turbulent jet ignition" with a pre-chamber for stratified combustion.
It's too bad that the motorcycle market is just not big enough for companies to spend their research money to include some of these technologies in to their market.

Hey thanks for the answer and the interest Scotch. So if I well understand what you've told. it's normal for Kz1300 to drink lot of gasoline. With mi Z1300 1989, I'll normally do 160 to 210 KLM not milles on a full gas tank, that is not a drag ride, run under 6800 rpm. it a "pussy" ride like you well say it uper. I was thinking that was a lot to much ??

I have the same tank. I KNOW that when I'm seeing 180 k on the trip - it's time to switch to reserve and find a station !
I typically ride at 120 - 130 KPH. Other activities I'm involved in all involve SPEED. My mind is just geared for that. To ride any slower makes my skin crawl - really ! Doing the speed limit is like riding in Molasses plus puts me in the "Cluster fuck" of traffic and that's just down-right dangerous !
Guess I've been bull-shit lucky....because in the 40 years of owning my 13...Not one speeding ticket !
Ya, it would be nice to have a more technologically advanced engine and see 50/60 MPG but there is one big advantage to our engines. They're easy to work on without all that advanced techno stuff found on everything, these days1

NOTE: To install the G.M. Coil-Pac in this location the Reed Boxes must be removed from the cam-cover and the 6 air injection ports filled with high temp. epoxy !
The reed-boxes can be removed easily with a hacksaw and dressed down with some filing. There are no concerns using epoxy to fill ports !!!!! They are not subject to high temperatures or pressure !
Some, including myself (originally) have located the coil-pac in the tool-tray but personally - I found this to be a P.I.T.A. when servicing the air filter or doing other work.
