KZ1300 USA Club Site Map

These are the top 3 pages I constantly send people to  because they don't spend enough time reading this site before they email me asking questions and many times the answers to some or all of their questions are on one of these 3 pages:

#1) Links Page - First place to look for 1300 parts providers, other clubs, motorcycle shippers, etc., as I give this page top priority on the site as new info becomes available!  Updated as I have new info - usually 2 or 3 times a month!

#2) FAQ Page - Questions and answers compiled over the years from 1000's of posts off the tech BB or emails.  Updated as I have new info - usually once a week!

#3) Tech Article Page - Specific technical articles on our bikes.  Updated sporadically whenever I have something to add - usually 4 or 5 times per year.

Picture Ads - Paid Ads section for bikes for sale with pictures.  Can include parts bikes or parts.

Parts For Sale - Parts or parts bikes I have for sale with high resolution pictures and thumbnails.

Image Files Site Map - Image files all thumb-nailed and sorted by year and by country!  The largest depositor of Z1300 images on the net at 10,000+ files and growing between KZ and ZN domains!  PAID MEMBER SECTION ALSO, go to this page for more info (renews in October of each year).

Search Engine - The search engine works just like any other on the web, but it searches just within the kz1300.com and zn1300.com domains.  It returns text searches only, you can't search for image names or URL's, but it can be a very effective way of finding just the information you're looking for as it searches all the bulletin boards and archive files (as I add them).

Contact - Info about the founder of the KZ1300 USA Club and his bike(s), contact information and how to pay for parts or make donations for memberships!

Audio/Video - Short .mpg file (sound/video) of our bike starting and revving up.  Opening this file in your browser may hang some computers depending on how your browser is configured to handle a .mpg file.  It may be better to use the option to save the file to your computer's harddrive first, then open it.  You might need to right click on the link to access a "save" or "save as" feature on your browser so you can save it to your PC.  I also have a .mp3 sound file the was submitted by Julian in the UK of his Z1300 running through the gears and a CBX running through the gears for comparison.  Here again, for some of you it may be better to save the file to your PC first, then play it.

Allen Millyard's 2300cc - KZ1300 x 2, V12 project in the UK.  AWESOME!!!  Check the UK site in the International section for more pictures.

Current Site Statistics

Site Managers

The following people should be contacted if you need help with part of the site that they manage.  We're all just volunteers here and if you see someone with an email address with their name@kz1300.com on the site, that means they help other members with various day to day functions or in some cases, they're a paid member.  I  offer "yourname at" kz1300.com addresses to all paid members or contributors that have contributed at least $50 (yearly) towards the support of our website (renews in October of each year).  You'll be able to use your new 'at' kz1300.com email even though you may change your personal email address from one to another as it is a forwarding address and I will update it whenever you change your address from one service provider to another.

All but a few of these @kz1300.com addresses are forwarding email addresses that forward your email to their respective regular personal email address.  In other words, you send an email to clyde@kz1300.com for example, and when he answers your email he'll reply using his personal email address, but the reason for doing this is so you'll recognize who works on the site as a volunteer in case you need some help with that part of the site.  Also, volunteers don't necessarily have to be paid members or visa versa.  If you'd like to become a volunteer or paid member with your own @kz1300.com address, please contact david@kz1300.com

david@kz1300.com - David Ewing, Club founder and main administrator over all club affairs from the Houston, Texas area.  In the past, if anyone had a question on this site they emailed me, but now that we have a number of volunteers to help out I would appreciate it if you would limit sending emails to me unless it's just something I need to deal with myself.  Lately, it hasn't been uncommon for me to spend an average of 2 hours or more a day just answering emails off this site.  I hope to cut this back as much as possible.

marie-helmet29s.jpg (75131 bytes)  marie@kz1300.com - Marie Ewing, aka 'the wife', is the 2nd in command on the site though most of you have never run into her yet.  Marie has helped with html, images, site design and file management issues, backups, etc.  I've tried to talk her into doing a page of her own which would probably be the only one that deals with things not specifically related to our bike, but I don't think she's in the mood yet.  Marie rode with me on the first Rally and you can see more of her on the Rally 2000 page.  She was at the Rally in Wisconsin also.

rally02-81s.jpg (86756 bytes)  Tour Guide - clyde@kz1300.com - Clyde 'aka' Mark Thompson in the Streator, Illinois area is our 'tour guide' for new members.  His function will mainly be to help people find their way around the site and help them find the answers to their questions if the information is available.  This is a key job as answering questions like these is what takes most of my time and you really have to search through a lot of information sometimes to find what you're looking for.  Even though I've seen every post and know where every page is on the site, I still use the search engine on the site or look on the links BB for answers and sometimes go out on the net looking for more information.  If any of you find something pertaining to a 1300 on the net you should post it on the appropriate BB because it will turn up in our on-site search engine when we go looking for that info.  We'll all benefit from such posts and I'm sure we'll all benefit from Mark's help as I'm sure I will!  You can see one of Mark's posts on the Rally 2001 page.  Please contact Mark for this kind of help!

rally02-80s.jpg (84549 bytes)  Members Database - bert@kz1300.com - 'aka' Bert Cornelison from the Toms River, New Jersey area has also been in the club for some time and he's agreed to put together a membership database for us.  I have a lot of data in various files and formats and he's a database whiz so we're getting it all organized now into a useable format.  In the future, it will help us plan Rallies or other club functions in the future as we grow into a viable organization.  If you want to be in our database, you can send Bert any info you'd like us to know such as your name, address, phone number(s) and year of your motorcycle(s) as a starting point, and then any other pertinent information if you're a volunteer or can provide a service for our club or other members such as making t-shirts or bumper stickers, rally planning, parts locator service, web design, translator for one of our international pages, offer space for members to stay over if they're passing through your town, etc.  I've offered that myself, but who'd want to come to Houston and get sunburned while they're getting soaked with sweat?  I don't know what all we might put in this database, I'm just glad we actually have one and we can thank Bert for that!  Please welcome Bert to our club!  UPDATE 9-13-02, our first database reports are posted in the paid members section!

rally02-78s.jpg (87404 bytes)  Patron saint to all 1300's - paul@kz1300.com - 'aka' Paul Bezilla our club tech guru from Manitoba, Canada.  Paul will accept tech questions if need be, but you should always post first to the tech bulletin board.  The other reason for this is that I take all the old tech posts and use them over on the FAQ page as a resource for everyone.  If I don't see the question and answer, then the rest of us do not benefit from it.  Paul specializes more on the KZ1300 models and not the ZN1300 Voyager models.  The engines are basically the same, but that's about it.  Voyager questions should really go on the tech BB or the Yahoo.com discussion Group as we have quite a few Voyager riders and maybe one of us will know the answer.

Tech FAQ page - I'd like to recognize Travis Denardo from Minnesota for helping rewrite the FAQ page on it's last major update in 2002'.  His work is what you see on the FAQ page.  He's taken 2000-3000 posts off the Tech BB and composed them in a question & answer format to enlarge our FAQ page considerably.  For those of us that work 40 hour weeks, that's at least a  weeks work, maybe more.  I know, I've done it before.

If anybody has a good bulletin board script we can use that is easy to install, edit and work with please let me know.  Because of all the spam postings, the old style bulletin boards are history until I can get something new worked out.  I'll be posting more jobs for volunteers here in the near future so if you want to help out just let me know and I'll try to find something for you to do that suits your skills.

NOTE: On these newer browsers I've noticed that they don't always display my large images in full size when you open an image from the thumbnails.  Once you click the thumbnail and open the larger image, if you 'mouse over' the image you should see a " + " symbol or some other indicator like a box with arrows usually on the bottom right edge of the image.  If you click on the indicator, then the image will expand to it's full size which displays full screen on computers that use a 800x600 resolution setting for the monitor.  If you click the indicator again it will go back to the smaller image. Some people use a resolution setting of 1024 x 768 or higher on their monitors and for those users the images will appear smaller in size instead of full screen.  You can change your monitor settings easily enough if you desire.  Also, the indicator I've noticed is slow to appear even after the image appears to of completely loaded.  The indicator in Netscape seems to be a lot faster to display than the one in Internet Explorer.

A lot of the images on this site are 750 pixels in width which should display 'full screen' in most browsers depending on what your browsers resolution is set at.

If you post to this site, consider yourself as a member since you either have a 1300 or parts for sale, or you're looking to buy a 1300 or parts, or you have some relevant information pertaining to this motorcycle that you'd like to share with us.  Though we do have a paid member section of our site there is no cost involved to be a member if you just want to submit a tech question, a free or paid ad listing, or be listed in our database for the rally notifications or email updates I send out once or twice a year.

I do use any info that's sent to me on this site as I deem useable and you can have your full name, email or contact info posted if you wish.  As people ask tech questions I put their questions and my answers on the FAQ page for the benefit of all.  I'm using two domains to hold the 10,000+ files; one for text mostly and one for images.  Take your time and visit for a spell!

It should go without saying that the info on this site is relevant for the Z1300, ZG1300, KZ1300 or ZN1300 though there are some major differences between the bikes.  In general on this site when I refer to KZ1300 parts, this is more similar to Z1300 parts not ZG1300 parts or ZN1300 parts which are totally different bikes in most aspects.  Most ZN1300 parts are unique to that bike.

Here's some guidelines on what will go on each bulletin board.

Wanted Ads Bulletin Board

If you want to buy "specifically" 1300 parts, a 1300 parts bike, or other accessories made to fit the 1300, magazines articles on the 1300, or other 1300 item, your ad would go here.

Bikes and Parts Ads Bulletin Board

This is the place to post your ad if you have a Z1300 motorcycle, Z1300 parts bike or some Z1300 parts to sell.  Once your bike or parts are sold, please send me an email to that effect!

Tech Questions Bulletin Board

This is the place if you need technical help with your 1300.  Paul Bezilla our tech guru and a few others have extensive knowledge with this bike and answer most questions unless the answer has already been asked previously.  I answer some questions if I think I can be of help, but all of you may feel free to post an answer if you feel you can help out.  We're going to assume that anyone that's seriously looking for answers to a problem they're having has already done the proper diagnostic routines that the manual gives them.  Some times we may refer you back to a page in the manual.   I've seen manuals sell as cheap as $10 to $15 on Ebay.com, and that's where I buy mine.

Considering how much wasted time is spent responding to questions only to have to state the same things all over again, please have some consideration of others before you ask redundant messages.  Scan through the FAQ Page, Links Page, Tech Tips or Tech Articles first.  It's the best of any 1300 site for technical help that I've seen yet.  Please feel free to respond to posts if you have useable information to give.  I use the information off the Tech BB, discussion groups and even email replies to add to the Technical FAQ page.  Take Note - if you send me an email with a question, I may use your question and any answers you get on the FAQ page or elsewhere.  Unless you ask to have your full name and email displayed, I just put a name and last initial by the question and answer such as "Stephen T.", "Troy C." or "Paul B.", etc.

Home Page - The main entry page and the link to use if you're giving someone the link to this site or - http://www.kz1300.com/  There's also a link to a motorcycle webring here and I have some links where I give free advertising to companies or entities that I think are deserving of it whether it's related to 1300's or not.  None of these entities support this club.
