Auction-Experts.com vs.
all other eBay Listing Formats
Last Update 07/02/06

Looking for the most profitable way to maintain a successful business selling cars on eBay?

Think you're happy with the listing format you're using now and see no reason to change?

  Auction Experts can teach you how to:

Double your % of sales vs. auction listings and
Get TOP $$$ on eBay for your vehicle -
the proof is below!

The bottom line in the eBay marketplace is this ...

#1) The percentage of how many cars you sell versus how many auctions you run, and --

#2) How much gross profit did you make on the cars you sold on eBay, whether they met reserve, sold over the phone or generated a local walk-in customer.

The files below are the best proof of the fact that although the Auction-Experts.com listing format is not the cheapest or easiest to implement, it pays off in the highest sale price on eBay for your vehicle  and a higher percentage of sales versus cars listed!  These two things much more than offset our fee for the superior listings we create.

We've had many local Texas dealers selling 30 - 60% of the cars they list at or above their asking price with a built-in profit of $2500 - $3500 per car after pack.  I've had some dealers selling as high as 70 - 80% of their listings with a $2500 per car average and others selling as low as 20% but with per car averages of $3500 or better!  Like many businesses, eBay follows up and down cycles during the year, but nevertheless - I can consistently outsell all other eBay sellers with our format.

Judging from the accounts we've taken over from other Listing services or from dealers doing their own listings in-house, it appears that most Houston car dealers were only selling 10 - 20% of the cars they listed with some as high as 30%, but they were selling too many of those cars at a low profit margin or sometimes at a loss to the dealership to get rid of an aged unit.  Management at all levels is always under the gun to minimize costs and at first glance, the perception is I'm the most expensive service in the eBay auction business.

However, in reality I'm not only the cheapest by far, but based on the results you'll see here, I pay for my services many times over and above what any other listing service can offer you!  If you're doing the typical 10-30% sales versus listings on eBay and you're not getting top dollar in that market then I can guarantee you're losing many $1000's of dollars a year that you could be earning by using our service.

The professionals at Auction-Experts.com are the #1 auction experts on eBay!  We've listed well over 8000 vehicles on eBay from 1998 to 2006 for large and small Houston dealers!  This Auction-Experts.com website was created to showcase the fact that our listing format outdoes every other listing format on eBay bar none.

Ask any of these other listing companies to show you copies of their auctions off eBay where it shows that their listing format has brought top dollar for the dealers they work for!

If they can do that, then you can surely make a more informed decision on which company you'd like to manage your auctions for you.  Even in the few years of time we've been saving these records almost every car Auction-Experts.com has listed that met reserve has brought the highest price on eBay for a comparable year / make / model vehicle with similar mileage and condition!  This is wonderful news for our existing customers and is the best and most irrefutable evidence of what we claim in relation to the way we design our auctions versus all other eBay sellers.  eBay customers respond to a professionally designed easy to read and easy to understand auction by bidding higher on our auctions and making that buying decision faster, usually on the first listing.  'Awesome' is the word we hear the most from bidders when they call to buy your car.

What you'll see is that our auctions have consistently brought not just a few hundred more dollars per car, but an average of about $1000 more per car for essentially the same vehicle.  These other  cars you'll see in the files below have either not met the sellers reserve price or if they did meet reserve, 9 out of 10 times they were sold at a lower price than what our car sold for (Buy It Now auctions excluded).

While sometimes we only brought a few hundred dollars more than the next highest selling car, many times we were anywhere from $1000 - $7000 over the next best selling comparable vehicle.  For that kind of boost in your selling price, no one could argue that having us do your auctions way more than offsets the fees we charge.  The bottom line is that an auction designed by Auction-Experts.com, CONSISTENTLY BRINGS MORE MONEY for your vehicle than any other type of listing format being used nationwide!  The auction designers at Auction-Experts.com are truly the eBay auction experts!

The Proof -
SOLD on eBay!

1996 BMW 328i Automatic 2Dr Convertible - Sold for $14,700 on 4/25/03 with 44k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Highest bidding 96' was a nosale at $16,000 with 38k miles.  Our car had a bad Carfax report showing previous damage and it has some small holes in the top.  Considering the previous damage and holes our 328 auction still brought a good price compared to the other cars on ebay and as much as the dealer wanted for it.

1995 Infiniti G20 4Dr Sedan - Sold for $5500 on 4/24/03 with 83k miles and 14 bids.  Not many G20's on ebay but there was one 95' with 83k that was a nosale at $5027.  Our G20 auction brought $475 more for the same identical car!

1999 Chevy Silverado C1500 LS 3Dr Extended Cab 2WD SB Pickup - Sold for $9500 on 4/22/03 with 100k miles and 17 bids.  Highest bidding similar 99' 2WD was a Stepside model that was a nosale at $9600 with 52k miles and a 00' model with 86k only bid to $9501.  Next highest bidding 99' was $1000's less.  Our Silverado auction brought only $100 less than a 99' with half the miles of our truck and as much as a 00' model that had 15k less miles on it!

1997 Infiniti Q45 4Dr Luxury Sedan - Sold for $10,500 on 4/22/03 with 96k miles and 30 bids.  Highest bidding 97' sold for $10,600 with 105k miles but it was a Touring model.  A more closely comparable 97' sold for $9995 with 88k miles and it was a non-Touring model like ours.  Our Q45 auction brought $505 more and had 8k more miles on it!

1998 Toyota 4Runner Limited 2WD Sport Utility Vehicle - Sold for $11,599 on 4/22/03 with 126k miles and 31 bid.  Highest bidding 98' 2WD Limited sold for $13,100 with 79k miles.  Mileage-wise there was a 99' with 112k that sold for $12,401 and a 98' with 113k miles that was a nosale at  $11,789.  Our 4Runner auction brought just $800 less than a similar 99' though ours had 14k more miles on it and was a year older!

1999 Toyota Sienna XLE Van - Sold for $17,900 on 4/22/03 with 32k miles and 12 bids.  A 00' XLE sold for only $17,850 with 39k while another 99' LE model sold for $14,500 with 39k miles.  Closest bidding 99' XLE sold for $13,500 with 59k miles.  There were many higher mileage 00' XLE's that sold for $1000's less but our Sienna auction still brought $3400 more than the highest bidding 99' LE model and ours only had 7k less miles!

1999 Subaru Legacy Outback AWD Wagon - Sold for $15,000 on 4/15/03 with 28k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Closest comparable Outback was probably a 00' Limited version that sold for $14,900 with 29k miles.  Mileage was similar although the Limited has leather and other options ours didn't.  Still, our Outback auction brought $100 than a Limited model that was a year newer!

1994 Acura Legend LS 4 Door Sedan - Sold for $6700 on 4/14/03 with 80k miles and 1 bid.  Closest comparable Legend was probably a 93' that sold for $8100 with 59k miles.  Our had 20k more miles but it also had a few scuffs, chips and dings that were stated in the auction and the other car was in much better condition.  Also, ours was a 3-day no reserve auction which may of limited our bidders some.  There was another 95' that sold for $7700 with 97k miles but it still looked a lot better than ours cosmetically.  Our Legend auction still brought a good price for our car considering the light damage it had and as much as the dealer needed for it!

1996 Oldsmobile Aurora 4 Door Sedan - Sold for $4500 on 4/14/03 with 83k miles and 1 bid.  Closest comparable Aurora was actually a 95' model that sold for $5300 with 87k miles.  Ours was a 3-day no reserve style auction which may of limited our bidders some but it still pulled the second highest bid on ebay in that period!

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 4Dr Sedan - Sold for $8600 on 4/12/03 with 53k miles and 28 bids.  Highest bidding 00' GLS sold for $10,000 with 53k miles.  Our Jetta was a previously damaged vehicle and stated as such in the auction, but our Jetta auction still brought only $1400 less than the highest bidding Jetta even with the prior damage!

2000 GMC Sierra SLE K3500 Crew Cab 4X4 LB Pickup - Sold for $15,500 0n 4/10/03 with 86k miles on our Buy It Now option.  A similar 00' 4x4 truck in a DRW version was a nosale at $14,700 with 60k miles, but I found nothing else closer to compare to. Still, our Sierra auction brought $800 more and had 26k more miles on it!

1999 Ford F-350 XLT Super Cab Powerstroke Diesel 4Dr 2WD LB Pickup - Sold for $16,000 on 4/10/03 with 89k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Almost all of the F-350's on ebay are Crew Cabs or 4x4 or both.  There was nothing directly comparable but our F-350 auction brought as much as most of the 99' 2WD Crew Cabs sold for and as much as some of the 4WD Crew Cabs.

1992 Chevrolet Suburban Silverado 4 Dr C1500 Wagon - Sold for $5000 on 4/09/03 with 130k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Highest bidding 92' sold for $4550 with 138k miles.  Our Suburban auction brought $450 more and only had 8k less miles on it!

1997 Ford E-150 Explorer Limited Custom Conversion Van - Sold for $12,900 on 4/09/03 with 65k miles and 2 bids.  Most of the vans in this category are passenger or cargo versions, but the next highest bidding conversion van was a 99' with 67k virtually identical to ours that sold for $10,500 with 18 bids from another Houston dealer using a listing software and his was the highest bidding 99' model.  Our Van auction brought $2400 more than the highest bidding 99' model and more than all the 98's and some 00' models!  There were no other 97's listed during this time period.

1991 GMC Sierra 1500 2 Dr C1500 Extended Cab SB - Sold for $6500 on 4/07/03 with 57k and 8 bids.  There was no other 91's hardly at all and the mileage on ours was more comparable to a lot of the 97'/98' trucks that were selling in this price range.  Our Sierra auction brought as much as trucks that were 6 to 7 years newer with similar mileage!

1998 Jeep Cherokee 4 Dr Sport 4WD Wagon - Sold for $7800 on 4/06/03 with 73k and 2 bids.  Highest bidding 98' 4x4 Sport model sold for $8500 with 39k miles and another at $8490 with 60k miles including a 2WD that sold for $7995 with 42k miles.  This was one of the only vehicles on this list that didn't bring top dollar.

2002 Dodge Dakota 4 Dr SLT Crew Cab SB - Sold for $17,200 on 4/04/03 with 17k miles on our Buy It Now option.  There was an 02' Quad Cab that sold for $17,500 with 18k miles, but it was a 4x4 and in fact, all the Quad Cabs listed on ebay in this time period were 4WD's.  Our Dakota auction brought just $300 less than a comparable 02' Dakota QC truck with 4WD and similar miles!

2001 Toyota Tacoma 2 Dr PreRunner V6 Extended Cab SB - Sold for $14,300 on 4/03/03 with 53k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Highest bidding comparable PreRunner was actually a 99' model that sold for $13,700 with 38k miles and there were some other 99's that sold for a little less.  There were no other 01' models to compare to except Crew Cabs.  Our PreRunner auction was priced right for the ebay market and brought what the dealer needed for it.

2002 Honda S2000 Sport Convertible - Sold for $26,100 on 4/01/03 with 8k miles and 5 bids.  Highest bidding 02' was a nosale at $26,500 with only 700 miles on it and was in as-new condition.  Next highest bidding 02' was a nosale at $26,000 with 2781 miles.  Our S2000 auction only brought $100 more than than the one with 2k miles, but it had 6k more miles and was apparently priced right for the ebay market!

2002 Dodge Intrepid 4 Dr ES Sedan - Sold for $13,400 on 3/27/03 with 21k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Highest bidding 02' was actually another Intrepid by the same seller which was a nosale at $12,100 with 27k miles.  An 03' SE version sold for $12,010 with 17k miles.  Our 02' Intrepid auction brought $1300 more than a similar 03' model and ours had 4k more miles on it!

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD Fullsize Crew Cab Truck 4 Dr LS 4WD SB - Sold for $23,300 on 3/26/03 with 27k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Another 01' Silverado in a 2500 version 4x4 with 36k miles didn't even get a starting bid of $21,000 and a comparable 03' model was a nosale at $20,300!  Closest 01' was a nosale at $19,700 with 28k miles but it had at least $3000 worth of added accessories on it.  Our Silverado auction brought $3600 more for the same vehicle but without the heavy duty bumpers, tool box, headache rack, etc.!

2000 Chrysler Town and Country 4 Dr Limited Passenger Van Extended - Sold for $17,300 on 3/26/03 with 23k miles and 5 bids.  Closest bidding 00' sold for $15,500 with 39k miles.  Our Chrysler Van auction brought $1800 more and only had 16k less miles on it!

1994 Chevrolet Astro Choo Choo Custom Conversion Extended Van - Sold for $3400 on 3/26/03 with 99k and 4 bids.  Highest bidding 94' Astro of any kind was a cargo van with 58k miles that was a nosale at $4100.  Not much on ebay to compare to except regular vans and some newer ones didn't bid as high as our Astro Van auction.

1995 Lexus SC300 Luxury Coupe - Sold for $13,100 on 3/26/03 with 74k miles and 23 bids!  Next highest bidding 95' bid to $12,900 with 87k miles but was purchased by a non-paying bidder.  Next highest was a nosale at $8600 with 93k miles.  A 94' model with 82k miles sold for only $8495.  Our SC300 auction brought $4500 more than the next highest bidding 95' but it had 21k less miles.

2001 Lincoln Navigator 2WD Luxury SUV - Sold for $29,000 on 3/25/03 with 23k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Closest bidding 01' 2WD Navigator sold for $26,300 with 36k miles by another Houston dealer using a listing software.  Our Navigator auction brought $2700 more and was the highest bidding 01' 2WD Navigator on eBay in this time period!

1994 Lexus GS300 Luxury Sedan - Sold for $15,000 on 3/25/03 with 60k miles and 33 bids!  In that price range there were strictly 98' and 99' models.  There was a 94' with no bids on a no reserve auction at $10,900 with 96k miles.  Highest bidding 94' sold for $9900 with 85k miles to a non-paying bidder while another 93' with 120k sold for $9300.  Closest 94' sold for $8600 with 102k miles.  Ours was low mileage for the year and going back up the line there wasn't anything else similar to compare it to except another one of our auctions which was a 95' with 68k miles that bid to $12,980.  Since it compared mileage-wise to 99' model cars and brought 99' model bids at least the dealer was happy that it brought everything he wanted for it and more.

2000 BMW 3 Series 4 Dr 323iT Wagon - Sold for $17,200 on 3/24/03 with 50k miles on our Buy It Now option.  BMW Wagons are not very popular cars on ebay, hence the low bids in comparison to a coupe or sedan.  Closest bidding 00' Wagon was a nosale at $18,500 with 31k miles and the next was all the way down at $14,800 - also a nosale with 64k miles.  Judging by mileage, our BMW Wagon brought $2400 more and ours only had 19k more miles on it!

1996 Toyota 4-Runner Limited 4x4 SUV - Sold for $13,800 on 3/21/03 with 75k miles and 8 bids.  A 97' Limited 4x4 only brought $13,533 with 79k miles.  Another 99' Limited 4x4 only brought $13,000 with 100k miles.  Closest selling 96' Limited 4x4 sold for only $12,310 with 60k miles.  Our Toyota auction brought $1500 more and had 15k more miles on it!

1992 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 4 Door Sedan - Sold for $4500 on 3/21/03 with 45k miles and 16 bids.  There was another 92' LS with only 19k miles that sold for $4850, but a 96' LS with 50k only sold for $4375 and was the closest comparison to ours moneywise.  Next highest bidding 92' was a nosale at $2700 with 74k miles.  Our Grand Marquis auction brought $125 more than a comparable 96' model with similar miles though our car was 4 years older!

1990 Cadillac DeVille Luxury Sedan - Sold for $4500 on 3/20/03 with 66k miles on our Buy It Now option.  There were 94' to 97' models selling in that price range but the closest match was a 91' that sold for $4383 with 59k miles.  Ours brought $117 more than the highest selling 91' model and as much as many 95' models sold for!

1999 Ford F-350 XL Powerstroke Diesel Regular Cab 2WD Flatbed Dually - Sold for $13,000 on 3/20/03 with 81k miles and 3 bids.  There were no flatbeds to compare to but there were a few 99' Crew Cab trucks selling in this price range both 2WD and 4WD.  Seeing as ours was a Regular Cab truck it appears to of brought top dollar in comparison and was what the dealer needed for it.

2001 Toyota Prius 4Dr Sedan - Sold for $13,855 on 3/17/03 with 22k miles and 31 bid.  There was only 3 of these showing on eBay when I checked it so it's hard to believe they actually have a category for it when they don't have one for an ML series Mercedes and there's 10 times as many of those listed!  However, of the three only one was an 01' model that sold for $12,600 out of Houston with 73k miles and 21 bid.  Our Prius auction brought $1255 more but it had 50k less miles so it was obviously priced right for the eBay market.

1997 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Turbo Sedan - Sold for $9100 on 3/15/02 with 88k miles and 18 bids.  There was a salvage 99' with 35k miles that only sold for $8900, another 99' with 95k that sold for $9100 and a 00' 87k mile 2WD version that sold for $8601.  The highest bidding 97' was a nosale at $8100 with 72k on a Carad.com listing.  Our Audi auction brought $1000 more than the closest selling 97' and had 16k more miles on it!

2001 Dodge Grand Caravan 4 Dr EX Passenger Van Extended - Sold for $17,500 on 3/15/03 with 20k miles and 8 bids.  A similar 03' model with 15k only sold for $15,850 and most all of the 02' models sold for less than our 01'.  Closest 01' sold for $12,100 with 67k miles.  Our Grand Caravan auction brought a higher bid than ANY year Caravan on ebay in that time period and more than other dealers wanted for almost all of the 02' models and some 03' models as well!

1998 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 2WD - Sold for $13,200 on 3/14/03 with 67k miles on our Buy It Now option.  A 99' LT Z-71 Tahoe with 90k miles only sold for $13,100.  Closest bidding 98' was a 2-Door 4x4 LT with 90k that sold for $12,400.  Closest bidding 4-Door was an LT with 28k miles that was a nosale at $12,200.  Closest bidding 98' 2WD LS model was a nosale at $10,100 with 59k miles.  Our Tahoe auction brought $3100 more and had 8k more miles on it!

2000 Honda Odyssey Minivan - Sold for $20,800 on 3/14/03 with 35k miles and 16 bids.  An 02' sold at only $20,100 with 28k miles on a no reserve auction with 52 bids with the seller using a listing software to do their auction.  All but one of the 01' models bid less than ours with the closest bidding 00' selling for $18,005 out of Montreal, Canada with 41k miles by a Honda Odyssey specialist, eBay ID "hondaodysseys-r-us"!  Our Odyssey auction brought more than all the 01' models, higher bids than a lot of the 02' models and $2795 more than the closest 00' Honda Odyssey sold by the self named eBay "specialist" in these vehicles, hondaodysseys-r-us!

1995 Ford F-350 XLT Crew Cab Dually Diesel 2WD - Sold for $8800 on 3/13/03 with 234k miles and 12 bids!  It's amazing the interest in these high mileage Diesel Ford trucks!  There was a 92' that sold for $8999 with 160k followed by a 96' that bid to $8900 with only 54k miles.  Closest bidding 94' sold for $8500 with 148k.  Our F-350 auction brought $300 more and still had 85k more miles!

1999 GMC Yukon Denali 4WD -  Sold for $18,500 on 3/12/03 with 55k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Closest bidding 99' Denali sold for $16,995 with 75k miles.  Our Denali auction brought  $1500 more but had 20k less miles!

2001 Acura 3.2 TL 4Dr Luxury Sedan - Sold for $19,800 on 3/11/03 with 34k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Closest bidding 01' sold for $17,101 out of Houston with 12k miles from another dealer using a listing software.  Our 01' bid more than some other 02' and 03's.  Our Acura auction brought $2700 more than the closest bidding 01' and these two 01's were the only ones to meet reserve in this time period.

2002 Chevrolet Tahoe K1500 Z71 LT 4X4 - Sold for $29,500 on 3/11/03 with 23k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Closest bidding 02' Z71 Tahoe was a nosale at $28,699 with 13k miles and 10 bids and the next closest was a nosale at $28,000.  Our Z71 auction brought $800 more than the highest bidding 02' in that time period!

1997 Acura 3.0 CL Premium Coupe - Sold for $7900 on 3/7/03 with 85k miles and 12 bids.  Highest bidding 97' sold for $8000 with 81k miles.  Ours had 4k miles more and sold for $100 less so it still brought top dollar for this market and as much as the dealer wanted for it.

1993 Ford Crown Victoria LX 4Dr Sedan - Sold for $4500 on 3/7/03 with 61k miles and 8 bids.  There were a lot of 98' and 99' ex-police cars bidding in that range but the closest match-up was a 94' with 43k miles that was a nosale at $3880 out of Miami by a dealer using a listing software.  Next closest match was a 92' with 68k miles out of Miami that sold for $3000.  Our Crown Victoria auction brought $620 more than the 94' though it had almost 20k less miles miles on it and $1500 more than the 92' which was an identical car to ours except that it had leather!

1995 Audi 90 Sport Sedan - Sold for $4980 on 3/7/03 with 94k miles and 12 bids.  Another 95' was a nosale at $5250 with 65k miles but it had leather interior and a CD changer while ours was cloth and no CD.  Next highest bidding 95' sold for $4500 with 131k miles.  It seems ours brought what it should have all things considered and as much as the dealer needed for it.

1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS - Sold for $6500 on 3/7/03 with 82k miles and 14 bids.  Highest bidding 97' was a GS model and a nosale at $5700 with only 17k miles.  Another 98' LS model sold for only $7700 with 46k miles.  Our Grand Marquis auction brought $1200 more than the highest bidding 97' model and ours had 65k more miles on it!

2002 Lexus IS 300 Sportcross Wagon - Sold for $27,900 on 03/04/03 with 14k miles and 17 bids.  Highest bidding 02' Lexus IS 300 model was a nosale at $26,600 with 18k miles and had $1000's of upgrades done to it but it wasn't a Sportcross model.  There was an 01' with 33k miles that sold for $26,500 with only one bid on a Buy It Now purchase, but it also had $1000's of upgrades done to it.  Closest bidding 02' Sportcross was a nosale at $18,100 with 13k miles and 18 bids.  Our Sportcross auction brought $9800 more than the closest bidding 02' Sportcross, $1300 more than ANY other IS300 on eBay and was the only 02' model to meet reserve on eBay in that time period!

1998 Audi A4 V6 Convertible - Sold for $12,400 on 3/1/03 with 69k miles and 10 bids.  There were almost no convertibles to compare to of any year on ebay and nothing near this price range at all.  A 99' AWD V6 Hardtop with 76k miles only bid to $12,100.  Our Audi Cabriolet brought what the dealer wanted for it and in the range of what 99' V6 hardtops were bidding to.

2000 Honda CR-V SE AWD Wagon - Sold for $15,600 on 02/27/03 with 25k miles.  Closest bidding 00' model sold at $13,900 with 68k miles and only 4 bids, 3 of which only bid $11,500.  The lone bidder that bought the car was willing to pay $2400 more for it than everyone else.  Ours got 19 bids with 3 different bidders at $15,400, $15,500 and the winning bid at $15,600.  There was a 3900 mile 02' CR-V 2WD that only bid $15,600 and another with 11k miles that only bid to $13,200.  All the 01' models bid less than ours with the highest 01' bidding to $13,461.  Our CR-V auction brought $1700 more than the closest bidding 00' model and $2200 more than any 01' model!

2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4X4 - Sold for $18,500 on 2/23/03 with 10k miles on a Buy It Now!  An 02' with 3000 less miles only sold for $19,500 with the seller using a listing software to do their auction. Highest bidding 01' only went to $18,100.  Closest bidding 00' was a nosale at $15,400 with 29k miles.  Our Jeep auction brought $3100 more than the closest 00' model and more money than all the 01' models listed in that time period.

1999 Cadillac DeVille Concours Sedan - Sold for $14,500 on 2/21/03 with 52k miles and one bid.  There was a similar 99' with 42k miles that was a nosale at $14,600 and another with only 27k that was a nosale at the same price.  Judging from these two it appears our DeVille was priced right for the eBay market and brought what the dealer wanted for it.

1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS 2WD - Sold for $8600 on 2/14/03 with 105k miles and 13 bids.  A 98' Montero sold for $10,000 with 51k miles but it was a 4x4 and another 98' Sport 2WD model was a nosale at $9600 with only 13k miles.  Closest bidding 99' 2WD was a nosale at $8700 with 45k miles and another 4x4 was a nosale at $8600 with 87k miles.  Our Montero 2WD auction brought as much money as the same year vehicle with 4WD did and ours had 18k more miles!

2001 Ford Excursion Limited 2WD V10 - Sold for $22,000 on 2/02/03 with 51k miles.  There was a similar 01' 2WD Limited with 44k in Denton, Texas that was a nosale at $22,100 with a $27,900 Buy It Now option and a 00' 2WD V10 model with 22k that sold for $20,900 out of Houston.  Closest bidding 01' 2WD Limited V10 was a nosale with 21 bid to $20,001 in El Paso, Texas from a dealer using a listing software.  Our Excursion auction brought $100 less than the highest bidding 01' on eBay and $2000 more than the next highest bidding Excursion but neither of those sold.  Ours was obviously priced right for eBay and brought what the dealer needed for it.

1983 Buick Regal Limited 2Dr Coupe - Sold for $4700 on 1/28/03 with 38k miles and 44 bids.  There were a lot of 96' and 97' models selling in this price range and older turbocharged Regal's which are highly sought after, but ours was not a turbo car.  The best comparison was an 84' Limited like ours with 39k miles that sold for $2850 but it had a lot of improvements to it.  Our Regal auction brought $1850 more than the closest comparable 84' with similar mileage.

2002 Chevrolet G1500 Express Explorer Limited High-Top Conversion Van - Sold for $27,500 on 1/23/03 with 6257 miles on our Buy It Now option.  A brand new 03' with only 532 miles on it was a nosale at just $100 more and it looked very similar to ours.  It was the best comparison as there were no other 02' conversion vans on eBay at that time.  There was a similar 99' that sold for $21,900 with 28k miles out of Orlando.  Our Express auction brought as much as the dealer wanted and sold for what 03's were bidding for.

1999 Chevrolet C3500 Express 2WD Dually Vending Truck - Sold for $18,500 on 1/23/03 with only 9085 miles and 2 bids.  Nothing else to compare with on eBay at that time.  Our C3500 Vending truck brought what the dealer wanted for it.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4x4 K1500 - Sold for $17,900 on 1/20/03 with 43k miles and 6 bids.  Closest bidding 99' was an LT model that sold for $15,900 with 52k miles.  Our Tahoe auction brought $2000 more and as much as many 00' and 01' models were bidding to!

2002 Pontiac Ram Air WS-6 Trans Am - Sold for $26,900 on 01/18/03 with 19k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Another 02' WS6 sold for $27,500 with 12k miles, but it had a 7/70 extended warranty and a offer of $150 delivery in the 48 states by the owner.  These two adders more than make up the difference in the selling price between the cars since delivery can easily run $500-$1000 and the warranty was probably a $1000 adder by itself.  The next closest 02' WS6 was a nosale at $24,200 with only 1369 miles.  Our Trans Am auction brought $2700 more and had a lot more miles!

1997 Ford F-350 Powerstroke Diesel ExtCab 2WD LWB Dually - Sold for $10,500 on 1/17/03 with 97k miles and 24 bids.  There were a few 97' Crew Cab's that sold for more, but there was almost no extended cab trucks on ebay to compare to.  Highest bidding comparable 97' ExtCab was a nosale at $8900 with 163k miles and it had a flatbed on it.  Next closest truck that looks just like ours was a 95' with 180k miles that was a nosale at $7200.  Our F350 auction appears to have brought top dollar for an extended cab model and as much as the dealer needed for it.

1999 Ford F350 XLT 4X4 Super Duty Powerstroke Turbo Diesel Crew Cab LWB - Sold for $21,800 on 01/14/03 with 82k miles on our Buy It Now option.  Only 99' F350 that bid higher was a Dually 4x4.  Closest bidding 99' was a 4x4 Crew Cab Diesel with 93k miles that sold for $19,600.  A 99' Diesel 4x4 Dually Crew Cab with 14k miles only bid to $18,300!  Our F350 auction brought $2200 more than the closest bidding comparable 99' model and more than quite a few of the 00' models bid to!

1994 Infiniti Q45 Luxury Sedan - Sold for $5100 on 1/05/03 with 118k miles and 4 bids.  Highest bidding 94' sold for $6300 with 111k miles.  Next highest 94' sold for $5200 with 133k to a non-paying bidder.  Two others with 120k each sold at $4851 and $4650.  Another 94' was a nosale at $4700 with 112k miles.  Ours still brought the highest bid amount considering the $5200 car didn't get paid for.

1995 Lexus ES300 Luxury Sedan - Sold for $7200 on 1/05/03 with 95k miles and 11 bid.  There was a 94' that sold for $8250 with 80k miles but it was purchased by a non-paying bidder.  Closest comparable 94' sold for $7507 with 74k miles.  Next lowest sold for $7100 with 83k miles.  Our ES300 auction brought $100 more and had 12k more miles on it.

2001 Ford Excursion Limited 2WD V10 - Sold for $25,000 on 01/04/03 with 50k miles on the Buy It Now option.  There were some 01' Limited's that sold for as high as $30,000, but they were 4x4 diesels.  Closest 01' 2WD were two XLT's that were nosale's at $20k, both had many less miles on them and they were V10's.  There were quite a few 02' 4x4 V10 Excursions bidding for less than what ours sold for and none of these met reserve prices.  The closest comparable vehicle was actually a 2000 Limited 2WD V10 model that was a nosale at $23,600 with 24k miles, but had 3 TV's a DVD and other accessories added.  Our Excursion auction was the only 01' that sold in that time period!  Nothing else even came close.  I added a very interesting CarAd.com auction at the end of this pdf file that's a must see!

2001 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4WD - Sold for $32,950 on 12/27/02 with 35k miles and 3 bids.  The next closest 2001 4WD SR5 had 17k miles and was a nosale at $25,100.  We got more for ours than any 2001 4x4 Limited model had bid to the highest bid on a Limited model being $32,100!  Our Sequoia auction brought $7850 more money and had more miles on it!

1992 Lexus LS 400 - Sold for $8000 on 12/27/02 with 120k miles on our Buy It Now option.  A similar mileage 93' sold for $400 less and all other cars in that range were newer or had less miles.  Closest bidding 92' was a nosale at $7600 with 93k miles.  Our LS400 auction brought $400 more money and had more miles on it!

2001 Chevrolet Express Van 2WD - Sold for $20,900 on 12/24/02 with 11k miles and buyer using the Buy It Now option.  Not much on eBay during that 90 day period to compare it to.  You be the judge on this one.

1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - Sold for $8300 on 11/16/02 with 80k miles and buyer using the Buy It Now option.  Closest comparable car was a 94' in much better condition than ours with 70k miles on it that sold for $8200.  In fact, a better condition 95' with 63k miles only sold for $7350 and a 93' stretch Limo was a nosale at $8000.  The closest 93' was a nosale at $3850.  Our Cadillac auction brought $4450 more, had more miles and it was the only 93' that sold in that time period!

In Conclusion:

You may wonder why we're unique on eBay with the style of auction we do and others don't try to copy us.  While you'll see that there are other Listers that post quite a few large images of their cars, maybe in response to what they see us do, we have no real competition in this market for a few good  reasons:

Number one is - Image Quality!  To get large full screen images that are clear and sharp, it's absolutely mandatory that you shoot them with a high resolution camera.  To duplicate the angles and do overhead shots you need a camera with a swivel body.  These don't come cheap!  In the past it took $1000 or more to purchase the camera and accessories!  A $300 camera would not do the same quality work.  Our odometer shot is a good example of this.  A cheaper 640 pixel camera cannot take the same image and produce a crisp, clear image as a high resolution camera does.  That's why you see the extreme close-up odometer shot in other auctions, where in ours I can take the whole instrument cluster and you can still read the mileage.

Number two is - Image Size!  When you shoot a high resolution image, it has to be reduced in file size dramatically before you can post it on your server.  Otherwise your images would take too long to load because the file sizes would be too big.  This is another good reason almost every lister on eBay shoots their images with a 640 pixel camera.  We cut, crop and enhance every image,  plus it's run through 2 stages of compression using 2 different software programs.  Then we order the images in a unique 'presentation format' as you've seen.  This adds a lot of time to our auction process; usually 4 hours to create our auction versus 1 hour for other formats, but it's one of the very reasons that people buy cars from our dealers and pay more for the privilege.  When a potential buyer looks at the images and wording we put in your auction, it's not hard for them to recognize that these auctions are unique and what they're looking at is as good as it gets on eBay!

Along with the size of all those images comes the problem of - Bandwidth!  On a typical car or truck we're shooting between 35 to 40 images per vehicle.  Although we've compressed our images as much as possible without sacrificing any more image quality than we must, the file size still comes out a little larger than what the file size of a 640 pixel image would.  When you put 35 - 40 images in an auction though, you still want them to load as fast as possible.  You don't want the buyer to get tired of waiting for the images to load before they can view your auction.

We've addressed this problem by purchasing our own server to load these images on and it's an  extremely high bandwidth server with redundant T3 connections that will assure your images will load as fast as anything on the net.  Again, this comes at a very high price and the cost is ongoing on a monthly basis, but it allows our auctions to load as fast as most other auctions do even though we typically have a total file size per auction that's sometimes substantially larger.

The lengthy and detailed descriptions we write, take time that other Listers aren't willing to spend!  Much less the inexperienced person that doesn't know how to collect the information we include in your auction.  Some vehicles are pretty straightforward, but others can take a lot of time to research if we're going to be accurate.  Accuracy is one of the main reasons other sellers get bad feedback and ruin their eBay accounts.  On eBay, you can't say in your auction a car has stability control, traction control or antilock brakes when it doesn't, or a sunroof if it doesn't have one, or a 6-CD changer when it's really a single CD player.  When your customer takes delivery of the car they may decide to go ahead and keep it assuming you compensate them financially for your mistake, but they rarely leave positive feedback!  On eBay, if you don't maintain a good positive feedback rating, you're soon out of the car selling business - in this market at least.

Some of the other helpful things we've started doing is putting the stock numbers of the vehicles in the image file names.  You can right click on any of our images and see the year, make, model, color and stock number of that particular vehicle.  Right click on most other eBay auction pictures and all you're going to see is an incomprehensible string of numbers or letters that don't tell you anything!  Their images don't have descriptive names because all they've done is load the images off a camera and on to a server.  These might seem like small things, but added together they're obvious to the consumer and we've proven they make more sales at higher sale prices for your dealership.  Isn't that your goal?  You're paying more per car for our work versus another vendor, but it takes an average of 3 to 4 and sometimes 5 hours to do the auction our way and typically only an hour to 1.5 hours to do it the other way.  You're paying for our time and labor and -

As you can see, our way has proven results!

If you're ready to make your long range plans for this auction market, there are many other things about this business that we can discuss with you in person like:

how to turn bidders into buyers by researching their bidding habits;

how to block bad feedback bidders and convert them to buyers;

how to effectively manage your emails and phone presentation for more sales;

how to get two or three car sales out of one auction listing;

how to get repeat buyers or referrals from previous customers;

how to find out what your car will sell for on eBay before you list it;

and many other useful tools that you would only begin to learn on your own after listing 100's of cars in this market.  Since 90% of the cars that sell from our auctions actually sell from customers following up on the phone while they're looking at your pictures and description of the vehicle on eBay, if you're going to be successful in this business you should consider using a company that gets proven results.  Call the eBay auction experts today and let us train you for success!

Auction-Experts.com is primarily a vendor for used car dealerships in the Houston area.  However, if you're an individual that has a car, motorcycle, boat, plane or any other type of item that you think would be better sold on eBay and want a professional auction, please contact us.  A 'non-auto' auction with only one or two pictures and a customer provided written description can be as cheap as $50 plus eBay listing fees (and possibly a final value fee with variable % depending on what category you list in) while something like a house or restaurant can easily run $200 or more plus a $300 listing fee for that particular category depending on the type of auction.  If you're not in the Houston area but can provide us with high resolution images of your item and enough information to enable us to write a good listing for you please contact us for a quote.

NOTE:  I can not list auctions for you on my own personal eBay ID for the simple fact that it puts my feedback at risk if you don't deliver the item as stated in the auction and I don't maintain any type of selling account to sell other peoples items.  To be able to setup a selling account on eBay so you can SELL an item, eBay requires you to provide a credit card and bank account information.  If you're simply going to bid and buy items off eBay using your eBay ID, they may not require the same information.  To determine if you have an eBay account that will allow you to SELL; login to eBay and click on any link that says 'Sell'.  If it allows you to choose a category to sell in then you have a selling account.  Otherwise, it will tell you that you need to set one up first before you can sell.
