Well, they did fire the guy who (they say) screwed up the communication. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if it came out that he/she was just a scapegoat in any case.

To me this stinks of a long-established company taken over by bean-counters who fired most of the staff to maximize profits. At least they didn't kill anybody the way Boeing did. Sorry, this is a sore spot with me.

The route-cause of this Cluster-"F" will never be known so will remain as one of those "Universal Mysteries".  I actually had 3 phones calls with D.G.
1 from me and 2 from them.  In one of those calls I specifically asked if they used a "Jig" to assemble the Collector/header and was told yes. I thought it was a rhetorical question but wanted to hear a definitive answer.  In the seemingly endless days of waiting I found myself theorizing how such a misalignment could happen. I envisioned someone backing a fork-lift into "the Jig" or having it fall off a shelf or rack.  The more I thought about this; it didn't seem so far-fetched.  Given the over-all length of the Collector/Muffler assembly, it would take very little to misalign a jig.
And as kawboy mentioned, I was also surprised they didn't want it all back so they could sort-out the issue.
If as they claim, " .....Due to the changes with our chrome plating, we have decided to discontinue manufacturing that exhaust system for the time being ." then it doesn't matter, does it?   They're better off not making them at all if this is the best they can do.
This does raise a curious question though:  How are they going to Chrome their other exhausts.  It doesn't make any sense to simply discontinue one exhaust system merely over a chroming issue, which by extension reverts back to:  They have a known issue with the 6-1 and can't be bothered trying to sort it out perhaps due to a low # of requests.
The "Boys at Delkevic" must be laughing their asses off and rubbing their hands together !
Now lets wait and see if the price of a Delkevic 6/1 goes up  !

So; Will l now live the rest of my life in infamy as "the Guy who Broke D.G."
Yea me !   Now I've got something to have engraved on my Headstone !

.....and WTF is going on with this formatting?    I DID NOT BREAK IT !

I should point out that I have nothing against Delkevic, parse. I simply had a "boner" for the Chrome look as opposed to that of S/S,  that in my mind was more in keeping with the "theme" (?)  of the bike.I'll comment on the "Eastwood" when there's been some significant mileage (and heat) put on the pipes. I can report however that the exposed base layer of nickel on that
We have a problem with the use of chrome.
In Europe, the manufacture of chrome parts is PROHIBITED from 2024 without providing any solution.
I'll give you a couple of examples, I have a BMW R1200 Cruiser, full of chrome parts, my motorcycle was manufactured in 2004, this model began to be manufactured in 1998, in 2000 the environmental regulations on the manufacture of chrome parts, well, the first series until early 2001 retain their perfect chrome, not my bike, they are all pitted and deteriorated due to a different chemical treatment, I have to remember that my bike sleeps in the garage, never on the street.
This is what the fork bars look like, judge for yourself.

I have Spanish-made motorcycles from the '60s and '70s, some have been in a shed for years, my Kawas are also more than 40 years old and none of them have the chrome plating in as bad a condition as my BMW, before the work was done so that They will last a lifetime and part of another.

Another example, when I repaired my Z650 I changed the handlebars, I had suffered an accident and I didn't like the one I had mounted.
I bought one of Italian design and brand, it was not cheap at all.

Well, filling the brake master cylinder, I poured a little brake fluid on the handlebar, I cleaned it with a paper cloth, as I had always done other times that had happened to me. After a few days I realized that I had lost the chrome in the stained area.

The clutch side is still spotless, perfect.

I think that the solution to the problem of the ban on chrome plating, without having to travel to countries like India to manufacture new parts, would be to manufacture components in polished stainless steel, but I don't know if the costs would be viable or if all the parts can be replaced by that stainless steel material.

Enjoy your weekend.
